Also on sale is the AX20 for $69.99 and the AX50 for $109.99. How would those compare to the AX55 in this thread that's $89.99? And how do those compare to the single Eero Pro Mesh that's only $79.99?

Friendly reminder to search slickdeals to make sure you're actually getting a good price, and not just hype-buying because you know it's prime day. Oh, and use k3ep@ too if you *really* want to see if you're buying at a good price.

EDIT: I've had like 3 of you PM me "I can't find k3ep@" or "what is sleepa." This is simple character replacement that gets used all over the internet..... 3 = e, @ = a, 4 = t, $ = s. I don't know how you can be around SD for long and not know this lingo, but if you still don't get it, do yourself a favor and google "leetspeak."

FYI the Deco X20 hasn't had a firmware update in over a year. It works fine enough but new features that were promised have never arrived and you would think routers would need the occasional security update.

I've got the RE500X in use here, works well enough but my gripe is that Guest Networks are NOT extended on these extenders if you're running in OneMesh.

I also got it off eBay for $20, FYI.

AX55 is the redesign of the AX50 which had overheating issues cause of the hard plastic cases it was using with very little ventilation same for the X20 that got replaced with the X21. If thats your price range the AX55 is the clear winner out of the 3 and compared to Eero Pro Mesh it out performs it pretty significantly. Most reviewers who tested the AX55 were able to get up close top speeds of around 750Mbps while the Eero Pro struggles to go over 500Mbps in most reviews I seen. Then you have the range factor, this will send a signal further cause of the external antenna design over the eeros internal.

Have not seen much on it, but the step down from it got great reviews across the board, your saving about $20 on it and it is the highest tier OneMesh item they currently have so it will probably work extremely well.

Btw anyone considering the Deco X20 save your money and get the X60 minimum for a few bucks more than on sale.... the X20 makes no sense when its hardware is gimped but almost the same price as the X60.

Are these TPLink routers getting frequent firmware security updates? I have a different model and it has not gotten an update since 2019. My prior router was an Asus and it would get security and feature updates multiple times a year.

Thanks for the input, the ax55 sounds good. I'm currently using a TP-Link AC1900 Archer c9 that I've had for 7 years, and like it, but have been told I could get better speeds. It clocks about 142mbps, whereas our Inet is capable of 300mbps.

I would be willing to pay from $120-$150 for a much better router; is there anything in that price range that's worth the extra cost?

All the latest mesh system and routers in the last 2 years are all getting frequent firmware updates, so they are doing a lot better than they were in the past.
