How heavy is this?

I bought a small push mower to do a small section of my property that's on a slope too steep for my riding mower - it's a gas mower just because any battery mower deals at the time were about double the price. In using it though I've found that I really need to muscle it around to mow, and that's a huge hassle and digs up the ground a bit.

Does it say where you get the free rapid charger by mail?
Might be something in the box. Someone else mentioned these are both made by Ryobi, and I found this Reddit thread [reddit.com] about Ryobi including paperwork in the box for a free charger by mail.

Fair enough. I'm hoping to close on a house that sits on an acre, but probably only about 1/3 to 1/2 acre of grass. I've been looking hard at mowers this week and I'm trying to figure out what class we need.

I'm looking at this, a similarly specced and priced Ryobi, and a Makita 20" that is going for $450 after coupon. I like the Makita because it comes with 4 18v batteries that can be used in other tools. That seems more practical than 40v.

But I'm wondering if I need to look another price bracket up.
A lot of states have GIS maps of the tax parcels that will tell you exactly how big a property is.

Draft logic let's you calculate area using Google maps. You can find the property and draw a line around the grass.

Had this mower for two seasons now and it does what I need it to do. Im on a 1/2 acre of bermuda grass and it does just fine. The batteries last long enough for me to mow, then edge and blow the driveway/patio leaving a bar or two on the battery.

I didn't like like how high it was cutting even at the lowest setting so I threw some washers behind the blade to get it close with the bermuda and its been awesome. Id also add that it is mostly plastic and you can feel the difference coming from a metal framed gas mower to this as far as how rigid it feels.

Does anybody know why the 5Ah and 6aH MOWERS look different?? I don't want to buy the 5aH mower if the mower itself is an outdated/obsolete version

These are generally good for weekly mowing in dry conditions. For folks who like to mow bi-weekly in relatively wet conditions, gas is still the way to go.

True, very true. Battery mowers are awesome, but only if the wet grass makes it into the bag. Which it doesn't, with battery mowers.

I gave away my electric lawn mower. The thing is nice for tiny yards with short grass, but kept stalling and dying early for my yards. It's powerful for what it is, but just won't compete with gas. Battery kept getting hot in Texas heat too and I would need to wait it out before it'll allow me to continue

I wonder if these are really worth it. Seems kind of wimpy. I have a Kobalt 80v 21" with two batteries and it takes me two full batteries to cut my front and back lawns (more battery charges if I skip a week). I live in a normal house with a normal yard that houses get in developments.

My mower came with two batteries. All of the 40v mowers have way less voltage/power?, but people love them supposedly.

How many batteries do you need for a normal yard?

Are they just more efficient? Cut better on less juice?

Seriously asking.

Great for .25 acres of land. You can get self propelled gas mowers for $100 on fb marketplace used for .50 acres. Once you start hitting 1acre you definitely want a rider

Different mowers, maybe one is self propelled? The "Ah" or amp hour doesn't matter. If it's a 40v HART too then any 40v HART battery will work. Higher Ah gives longer run time

Well, to play devils advocate ridged and ryobi are the same factory/manufacture and there is a significant difference in build quality and use.
True, but most of the products from these 2 are literally the same except for color, branding, and battery style.

I don't like all these "don't get an electric mower if you have a X sized yard or if you cut Y frequency" comments because they make a whole range of electric mowers, just like they do gas mowers.
Don't compare a $200 electric ryobi mower with a $700 gas toro mower. For example you can throw a 10Ah battery in a higher end Ego mower and it will have more power than a similar sized gas mower. Just understand that at least for a few more years you're going to have to pay a premium for a mower that is quieter and doesn't use gas/oil compared to a traditional gas powered mower.

Would appreciate anyone's feedback on this. I have only about 1/3 acre but it is pretty steep. I have a self-propelled Husq mower that is RWD and gas powered. With the weight of that mower my yard is still big workout. Are these battery powered mowers lighter than their gas-powered counterparts? I know there are self-propelled electric mowers (HomeDepot has a AWD one for like $800).

My lot is 0.28 acres, estimate grass area to be 0.2 acres. Pushing at a good pace with a 21" or 22" wide kobalt electric mower takes about 30-35 mins front and back, fair number of obstacles. If I had very minimal obstacles I'd guess 20-25 mins. I have a rider too with a 46" deck that the wife will use when I'm not around, I hate all the shit that gets into the air.
I'd recommend the bracket up, maybe ego or a kobalt. I love my kobalt. Super light, loads of power, the 2ah batteries last a long time.
