FYI for anyone who has a current wells fargo credit card - for most of their older cards you can do a product change over to this card instead. I just did this so I can move away from my old 1% cash back card to upgrade to this. You don't get the sign up bonus but all of your credit limit, age of account and all transfers over with it.

Here's my plan. My local utilities allow extra payment. 500 to electricity, 500 to water, 500 to etc and set up the CC to pay monthly to finish before APR is up and free 300 dollars
in fact i've got medical bills anyway

same here. I like the weight of the card similar to sapphire chase card but I got a measly $500 CL.
Question for Credit card churners: I assume citi double cash is te only straight up 2% card on everything with no annoying quarter/categories?
Actually Synchrony Premier MC and Fidelity Visa Signature both are straight up 2% on all purchases. Synchrony credits you the cash back on the following statement period..not current statement...and Fidelity allows you cash back or credit or deposit into a Fidelity account. Both excellent cards. No annual fees.
All this churning ive been blacklisted. I have a WF cc surprisingly issued last year i spend most of my purchases on.
I must be black listed as well, I have only had one Wells Fargo card in the past. Opened in 2014 and closed in 2016. I was denied this card, I received the denial letter, and they denied because they looked at my ration of credit bureau trades with a balance greater than zero (all my balances are zero), and they looked at the number of revolving bank cards. According to the letter my credit score is 798.
I guess they only like giving this card to people they will hope carry a balance.
Inspite of all the issues, for me WF has delivered. My mortgage has been served without any issue for last 6 years and the sole WF card I had have me decent perks and the cell phone protection that served me twice in the last 5 years. And in the light of what Capitalone did of slashing credit by 50% inspite of being the longest in my credit history of 11 years (yes am an immigrant), I took the chance and applied for this. Have a 820 fico/factors score and got auto approved for 22k right away. Waiting for the card now.
PS: I apply for 2 credit cards every 24 months and had about 14 cards before this (3 chase, 3 amex, 1 capitalone, 3 citi, 1 wf, 1 discover, 1 usbank and 1 pnc)
The free cell phone coverage is a really great benefit that can't be ignored. I've used it 3 times in the last 2 years, the lack of a significant deductible and no monthly fee is awesome.
Agree but Verizon now offers a $10/mo discount per line for paying with a debit card + paper-free billing. That's $20/mo for me lost if I switch to this card.
This card was a total PITA to apply for. I got flagged for ID verification. It took a week, and that was this me calling every day to find the status, as it would of taken over a month if I waited for their damn snail mail.
First, the rep lied to me about acceptable address verification. He said the CC statement was allowed, but then it was denied, and a bank statement required 3 months of statements... how does one month v. three months verify an address. Much of their documentation option (property tax receipts, tax return) aren't valid after 60 days, and for some reason a driver's license can't verify an address.
And the only method for submitting documentation was via fax. So of course, they said my photo ID was too grainy the first time. I'm not sure why these idiots don't anticipate these problems when their only option is a piece of 1980's technology.
And I was between addresses, so a lot of my documentation wasn't going to work, since the card was applied for at an address that I didn't have too many options for. But these idiots didn't catch how I changed my address on one of my documents.... just proves they are a joke.
5th card with them
I've wf platinum, cash wise, propel, active cash
735cs 3k limit, this will probably replace my propel for travel and entertainment 3%
using the active cash 2% for everything else
How hard is it to get a claim approved let's say if a phone is stolen? Maybe you can share your experience as I may have to do this soon and I have the Propel cc.
Same question as someone else said it doesn't cover a cracked screen.
Same question as someone else said it doesn't cover a cracked screen.
It was pretty easy, I had a cracked screen and a cracked back (two different phones). Received an estimate from apple to fix the phone, then I submitted the quote to them. They accepted and paid quickly.
they said they could not confirm my information. wanted to confirm by sending me a text on my cell, then said my cell is not eligible to get text verification, did not want to call
same for my other [work cell] - not eligible
only way to confirm was to snail mail them 2 recent bills or fax , yes fax !!!
no secure email, they did not want to call my same phones where they wanted to text me to confirm
839 credit score
AMEX been my primary card, limit between 30-40K
PASS on this one for their outdated methods
They said they couldn't identify me either. I have had a checking and savings account at Wells Fargo for over ten years and a credit score of 833. Plus I have Amex and Chase credit cards. They said I needed to fax them a copy of my drivers license and two bills. Ridiculous. I am a customer of theirs and they couldn't identify me. I am also passing on this.
I went with the US Bank credit card offer. $500 cash back after spending 2K within 120 days of opening. Annual fee is waived first year and will downgrade to a no annual fee card after using the offer.
Is this a good deal if I have $1,500 to spend in first 3 months?
Honestly? No... Most cards offer around $200 for spending $500. The Citi Custom Cash often offers $300 for spending $750 if you apply through an affiliate link (such as through Credit Karma or Nerd Wallet) Not only that, but 0% for12 months is on the lower side of what most major cards offer, usually at least 15 months.
