is super Mario 3d any good? what about Mario party? which is the better buy? tia
Super Mario 3D World is regarded as one of the better platformers on the Switch. But if you're in to silly fun with many players, Party may be more your style.
Yes, if you want/need the Nintendo Online subscription. Otherwise, $50 is the usual discount price on it. It looks like it has only dropped to $45/40 twice. Might be awhile for a better deal. Also consider Stardew Valley ($15 when not on sale).

3D World is the best traditional Mario game that exists thus far, in my opinion. More close to 2D/platform in nature than it is to the other 3D Mario quest-like games. Close to perfection, just a few things I would change.
Mario Party Superstars is fun as well. If we are talking about a specific scenario (e.g. gaming with the kids) then we can make comparisons otherwise they are very different. In the example scenario, the former is probably better for younger kids as it is co-op, and the latter is versus. I wouldn't want to play superstars on a regular basis, as it seems more geared toward a party game as the name suggests.

thank you, as well as others for your input. I'm just looking for something that will be fun to play; been away from the Mario franchise for a long time...I think since n64, or maybe even before then, but got a switch and am trying to see what's worthwhile. bought the rabbids game when it was on sale a while back and had some fun w it, but I realize even those are different type of gameplay from these that i asked about. also got smash, and it wasn't as fun as I remember it being, but nonetheless playable (downvote me for saying this, idc). was just looking for something else to play/veg out with

Definitely not Mario Party then. Honestly if I didn't have kids I would never play it (Mario Party) since I've no friends. 3D World you might get a kick out of but there's not much depth to it compared to something like Odyssey or a Zelda game.

But you can use this then upgrade it into the online plus for a pro-rated discount. The older games on Sega and N64 are fun to play on it too
