Wrong, the 3 months to 50 days conversion only happens for EXISTING Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions. New and former subscribers can convert Xbox Live Gold into GPU at a 1:1 rate.

One simply needs to make sure to redeem all XBL Gold codes before signing up for GPU.

Also the OP doesn't say anything about the extra 1 month for recurring billing.

My gamepass expired a couple of weeks ago and I just did this and can confirm that you are wrong. I have 3 years of Ultimate now for roughly $20 a year.

You need recurring billing OFF before redeeming codes, and even then it's YMMV.

For those trying to stack up to 36mo, be careful with the recurring billing extra month (if it's offered) you might screw yourself on the math, you can't stack beyond 36mo.

If you use the recurring billing trick with 3 month codes to get 36 months your options are redeem 9 codes today and get 35 months + 8 days or redeem 8 codes today and wait 9 days to redeem the 9th code.

This is because each code + bonus is actually 4 months and 1 day. So once you reach 8 codes it will be 32 months + 8 days and it won't let you add another 4 months and 1 day. You have to either reject the bonus month on the last code or wait until you are under 32 months.

Well, was a former member and wasn't allowed to re-up for $1.00. Was able to stack 8 XBL Gold Codes + 1 month each (total of 36 months) and convert to Game Pass Ultimate. I had to pay 14.99+tax though to re-up the first month of my subscription though.

I also screwed up the math in my head and ordered 4 more XBL Codes. Oh well...guess I just have to save these until 2025 then.

They probably got an extra month for having recurring billing turned on. Doesn't work for everyone though.

Good luck on the codes still being good in 2025... some people have gotten used codes from Eneba and CDKeys. Probably better to use the codes sooner and get 50 days of GPU.

Anyone know how long you have to wait after expiring to do this? I expire next month after doing the 3 years for a buck trick. Still don't mind paying 14.99 to activate it as I use game pass all the time.
