I just called Boost , their customer service barely spoke English
got transferred to the cancelation department
the woman named Amanda told me that this is the price and the device is prepaid and I will not be charged if I don't use the device
If I want to use the device then I can buy a plan from their website.

I hope this helps

Any limitations On How I Use My Device? If you get a Device from DISH Wireless or a DISH Wireless authorized retailer without paying full price (MSRP) for the Device, you agree (1) within 60 days to activate and use this Device on the DISH Wireless network and (2) not to resell, trade in, or export, or participate or profit in the resale, trade in, or export of the Device to a third party until you have activated and used the Device on the DISH Wireless network and met all your other financial and contractual obligations to us. If you do this without meeting your obligations, we reserve the right to take any action we deem necessary, including charging you for the difference between the Device's full price and the price you paid for it, and seeking recovery of related damages. If you have a separate agreement with Boost to acquire, purchase, or lease a Device, any restrictions on resale in that agreement will also apply, so please refer to the terms of any such agreement to understand your rights to resell your Device. Any tampering with, reprogramming, reflashing, or unlocking of this Device without DISH Wireless's permission violates DISH Wireless's and third parties' rights under state and federal laws and could subject you to civil or criminal liability.

I'm Direct Messaging them on Twitter now after tweeting to @BoostCare last night. They responded this morning to DM them, so hopefully they'll get it cancelled. I never received an email acknowledgment for the order, either.
Any luck? Are the Twitter ones more aware of what's going on?

I think everybody should message them on there, so they take notice that people are mad they're being scammy.

Regardless, this is such a scumbag move if they charge us.

it's hilarious to see everyone freak out 😂 I didn't cancel mine. I'm not scared of no collection agency
This thread alone was worth more than $1!

I still have a tmobile hotspot from about 5 years ago. I'm not sure that it's even 4G but it came with a small amount of free data so I could keep it around for emergency network access briefly.

might as well grab this!
I totally forgot about that thing. I have it as well!

Two of their reps told me that I would not be charged anything else if I keep it. I took a screenshot of their answers.

So basically this says we need to activate it but not clear for how long you have to pay for/use their services? Secondly do we know if the device can be unlocked to use with other service provider after 30-90-180 days or so? Thanks.

How Do I Accept The Agreement? You must have the legal capacity to accept the Agreement. You accept the Agreement when you:

Agree in writing or by electronic signature or by telling us you accept by email, over the phone, online, or in person; or
Activate, use, or attempt to use, the Services; or
Pay for the Services; or
Open any package or start any program that says you are accepting the Agreement by doing so.
If you don't want to accept the Agreement, don't do any of these things.
For those who are afraid that Boost will come after you for $49, apparently, all you have to do is not open your package

search and read the T-Mobile free T9 hotspot thread. Only the T9 can do this. This Alcatel can't.
