I just called Boost , their customer service barely spoke English
got transferred to the cancelation department
the woman named Amanda told me that this is the price and the device is prepaid and I will not be charged if I don't use the device
If I want to use the device then I can buy a plan from their website.

I hope this helps

Please try it… I put my phone line tmobile sims but doesnt work… a inactive tmobile sims show lte.
both Tmo data sim and voice sim not working.
It shows 3G on signal. I can send text and receive text. No data access. So this device is no good for T-mobile.

My inactive visible sim works. shows 4G. it can take me to visible site even its inactive.

Those who are searching for how to unlock:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/28464056...media=COPY

Send IME number to them during the purchase.

They will send you the unlock code with instructions

How To enter the unlock code on your locked modem:-

1. Insert an UNACCEPTED SIM and
connect to the dongle Via Wifi or USB.
2. Launch a Web browser and in most cases
you should be prompted for the unlock code
>
If the code is not asked for - dongle
MAY already be unlocked -
if not then the following procedure may work

1. Ensure
dongle is connected to your PC and is recognised (all drivers installed)

2. Insert an UNACCEPTED sim into the dongle
3. Open a Web Browser and Type
192.168.1.1
4. Login to the dashboard
5. Now goto - Advanced settings - Sim settings
- Unlock Device -
Enter the Unlock Code - Click on APPLY

damn I would've purchased that $1 code. I already bought two codes for $2+tax each... oh well... could've saved $2 Stick Out Tongue

I used this $1 listing [ebay.com] along with the $2.99 listing [ebay.com].

I don't have any data-only SIM cards, so I can't test if the internet actually works though.
I just bought the $1 listing. Do I need to send them something? It says send IMEI but the little "Important Information" card doesn't list an IMEI.

Just send them the IMEI code.

It's printed on the hotspot box and printed on the inside of the hotspot when you remove the battery. You can also get the IMEI from HTTP://mobile.hotspot. It should be on the "Information" tab after you connect to the hotspot and login.

Thanks! Got it from mobile.hotspot and messaged it to them. Hopefully they provide the unlock code quickly! I'm going to Mexico tomorrow and hope to buy a SIM in the airport to put in this, so I don't have to remove my phone's SIM.

I was really upset that they said it was cancelled and then shipped it anyways, but now it looks like it'll work out, especially if they're not going to charge $49 later.

Was able to get this unlocked.

Anyone know how to change the imei on this?

Trying to use one of the free unlimited voice lines from tmobile using the data as a hotspot. I understand if you change the imei with one of a phone, the data will work and you can use the free line as a hotspot.

Also open to any ideas that can allow a voice line to be used as a hotspot with this device.

TIA!

Update: The $1 sim unlock [ebay.com] worked (I used the SPCK code to unlock) and data on my Mint sim worked. Crossing my fingers it will work with a Mexican SIM.

I purchased the $1 listing for unlock code. Got the SPCK code, applied on my computer using a sim card from another carrier (not active). The unlock code request box is gone. However, I got the invalid sim (expected) notice. But I don't find anywhere in the setting that this device is unlocked. Considering, I don't have other active sim at hand for testing, is it really unlocked? LMAO

Connect the device via WiFI and login via http://mobile.hotspot
on top right corner, you should be able to see if your SIM card is valid or invalid.
I put a att sim and it showed invalid (red). After unlocking, it's showing valid (green) sim logo.
If yours shows valid/green no matter which carrier's sim you put in, then you were lucky to get an unlocked one out of box

As other recent posts say, you send your IMEI to the eBay seller, buy the eBay listing, then put in an invalid (off-carrier) SIM card. The hotspot's router page (https://mobile.hotspot or 192.168.0.1 both worked for me) will have a box at the top to unlock the SIM (only when you have an off-carrier SIM card in) and you put the SPCK code that the eBay seller gives you in the box. Voila! Unlocked and ready to go.

There is a Boost Mobile Customer Service guy on SD, comments on many of the phone deals. It would be nice if he could comment on this thread.

Hey BoostMobileCS, any comments?
