It's full AndroidTV. Meaning that it has the Playstore, Google assistant, and can also side load apps very easily

Remote is very good, except for the dedicated Netflix, etc. buttons (I don't care for those)
I haven't used it for gaming tho

I've had it for about 1 year and also have a Chromecast with remote. They're basically the same thing. For the price, I'd go for this anytime, I've seen them new at Walmart for $15. Price new is $20.
I would stay away from the Fire sticks, tv, etc. (unless you're really invested in that ecosystem)
And in haven't really used a RokuTV, but I can't see how it would be better than this, specially with the AndroidOS backing it

It doesn't state that the VIPoutlet listing is refurbished, but is it safe to assume it's a refurb? If that's the case, I'd rather pay the extra $4 to get it directly from Walmart.

Last time I used an Android streaming box, it was literally just regular Android on a board with hdmi and a remote.
Does this have limitations when trying to play local sports through apps? I remember having to jump through hoops to get sports to stream but it was a long time ago.

Ah. The good ole mk802 days.

Things have come a long away since then. That used to use Allwinner chipsets and 512 MB of RAM. This uses Amlogic S905Y2 and 2GB of RAM. Similar price (or lower) than those days, just more hardware capabilities, more decoders, and 4K support.

Technology!

Don't buy any android devices that have 2GB ram which this onn device does. (minimum should be 4GB ram)

You shouldn't waste time with these ones unless you are really on a budget.
It's $14 dude. Can't really complain that it doesn't do everything the more expensive boxes do. I've spent $14 on a cable before

I bought one of these for $20 last time. Honestly, I felt a little bad over the amount of features and power that I got for $20. This is coming from a cheapskate.

This thing has a microphone, it supports Google Assistant, you can side load apps like Kodi, it supports 4K HDR, and has Bluetooth connectivity. It's much faster than the Roku operating system on my Roku TV.

The only downside I've noticed is the Bluetooth feature. I don't think there is a way to turn off the device, it only goes to sleep mode. There is also no way that I've been able to find to turn to disconnect from a Bluetooth device. Of course, this is completely ridiculous. The downside of this is that if you connect Bluetooth headphones, they remain connected to the Android TV. When I want to use my Bluetooth headphones to listen to media on my phone, as soon as I turn on the headphones, they connect to the Android TV. The only solution I found for this is to unpair the headphones from the Android TV when I'm done using them. There are other solutions like unplugging the Android TV when you're done watching, but I don't like this. I'm sure there is other solutions but none that I'm too happy with. This is not a problem for someone who has more than one pair of bluetooth headphones and doesn't mind dedicating one set for the Android TV. This is also not important to someone who is not interested in connecting Bluetooth headphones to this device at all.

That said, I recommended this to family and friends and they've all been very happy with this device.
