Uh, no. You just go to the Windows Store and you can turn off S mode permanently for free using the free app there.

Hands on review of the Duet 3i in this configuration. [mynexttablet.com]

He says: Slow/laggy, sometimes stalls but with a very good screen and 6 hours run time.

He recommends if you NEED Windows and need cheap (reviewed at $400).

I'm in, my Surface Go 2 was a lot faster with more storage, but it was 6 times the price.

thanks OP.

I've loaded chrome os flex on old computers before. Works wonderfully. However, there are reduced features on flex vs regular chrome os, such as not being able to install android apps. I have also installed Linux distros on old laptops and find the increased functionality offered by Linux to be worth just going with Linux over chrome os, full or flex. (For instance, if you have a cd/dvd drive in your laptop, Linux can use it whereas Chrome can't). Either way, don't throw those "old" computers out before installing one of these operating systems on them to see how they run first. It might blow your mind. Also, getting a cheap SSD to install the OS on, even if it's Windows 10, will make a night and day difference. Linux and Chrome will be even faster than that. I don't recall the specs, but I've got an old budget Lenovo G700 from 2013 with a Pentium chip that runs marvelously this way. However, even without SSD chrome os flex or Linux will be noticeably snappier. I'm a fan of Zorin and Pop! OS as Linux distros, especially if you're migrating from Windows. But there are lots of versions and everyone has their favorite. Google around for a distro site that can be helpful to you if you want to give Linux a spin. It's worth it.

That's a good idea. It should be easy to test.

Literally the most incorrect information I've read so far today.

But don't worry, it's still early =)

Faster than expected. I purchased this at 239 minus the 50 dollars i received from the lenovo x12 fiasco. Spoke with customer service and they price adjusted for me. Great deal!

A 64gb SSD hard drive is way too small for a Windows laptop. I bought a windows laptop in the past with a 64gb hard drive and while it ran, it was almost impossible to complete a Windows update due to lack of space. Might be OK if you are planning on installing ChromeOS Flex on it, but if that is the case why not just buy the ChromeOS version of the Duet in the first place.

The Chromebook version will have better performance because of the much lighter weight operating system. The review mentioned here discusses it.

For the tech savvy, the converting the 3i to Linux would solve it, and it seems multiple people have done that.
thanks... then here is an apple to apples question: i read there is a way to convert old/used/slow windows machine to chromeos. if it was done here... how would the two compare?

also i assume memory is not upgraded by normal users?

Lenovo - Chromebook Duet - 10.1Touch Screen Tablet - 4GB Memory

Which has better performance this or to Chromebook? I know it's slightly different comparison of Chromebook against windows...
Chromebook is ARM, better battery life but horrible app support. Android apps are terrible and you're stuck with Chrome. I'd stick with Windows.

You understand how HARD IT WOULD BE to beat that though, right? I mean,.. you're throwing him a life raft with a second chance and he's like 50 feet deep. laugh out loud

HOWEVER, this is the internet and we've got an entire day ahead of us!
