Uh, no. You just go to the Windows Store and you can turn off S mode permanently for free using the free app there.

Hands on review of the Duet 3i in this configuration. [mynexttablet.com]

He says: Slow/laggy, sometimes stalls but with a very good screen and 6 hours run time.

He recommends if you NEED Windows and need cheap (reviewed at $400).

I'm in, my Surface Go 2 was a lot faster with more storage, but it was 6 times the price.

thanks OP.

I've loaded chrome os flex on old computers before. Works wonderfully. However, there are reduced features on flex vs regular chrome os, such as not being able to install android apps. I have also installed Linux distros on old laptops and find the increased functionality offered by Linux to be worth just going with Linux over chrome os, full or flex. (For instance, if you have a cd/dvd drive in your laptop, Linux can use it whereas Chrome can't). Either way, don't throw those "old" computers out before installing one of these operating systems on them to see how they run first. It might blow your mind. Also, getting a cheap SSD to install the OS on, even if it's Windows 10, will make a night and day difference. Linux and Chrome will be even faster than that. I don't recall the specs, but I've got an old budget Lenovo G700 from 2013 with a Pentium chip that runs marvelously this way. However, even without SSD chrome os flex or Linux will be noticeably snappier. I'm a fan of Zorin and Pop! OS as Linux distros, especially if you're migrating from Windows. But there are lots of versions and everyone has their favorite. Google around for a distro site that can be helpful to you if you want to give Linux a spin. It's worth it.

thanks... then here is an apple to apples question: i read there is a way to convert old/used/slow windows machine to chromeos. if it was done here... how would the two compare?

also i assume memory is not upgraded by normal users?

Slick, thanks for posting. I used my $5 monthly Gamestop credits I had purchased Xbox cards with and had $70-something in gift card value over the past few months built up. Only paid $20-something for this Smilie

Windows will feel laggy/slow with that N4020. My 5 year old has a laptop with the same specs Kano PC and he just watches YouTube on it. When I get on it I feel like everything is moving at half speed lol but I'm sure its fine for most basic browsing and very light office work/emails.

In the end this is $100 for a lot of machine ... just its slow so be aware!

I think this is great for traveling and watching videos. I had an old tablet with Intel atom and it worked ok. You can also run mame just fine on this.

This may work as a security camera display in the kitchen. I just need it to run one Windows app via WiFi. Google app for my NVR sucks, but Windows app is so much better.

I'm typing this on the Asus laptop from best buy ($99) with the same specs. It has the BS low-res screen, but otherwise, it is an excellent passively cooled device. This is tempting. Wondering if it is worthwhile to return her and get this lenovo. I'll say this though - the build quality on this Asus is excellent. This thing is a tank and has much less chassis flex than most laptops.

Trying to decide between this an a Macbook Pro.
This. Macbook Pro will run too fast, will have too much ram, and too much ssd space.

Repped! Thank you! It will work find for paying bills, shopping, e-mail and basic productivity apps. Needed one to replace a broken Lenovo 2 in 1 (predecessor to this) that they broke without breaking the bank. Nice!
