DDR5 doesnt make any real difference on laptops since its all lower speed right now. Like on desktop you basically need DDR5-6000+ to see worthwhile gains over DDR4-3200. Also prices arent dropping anytime soon as 12th gen just launched and inflation will be driving prices higher
I can understand comments complaining about soldered dimm, low SSD storage, 1080p screen. But jeez to say not a good deal because of DDR4 is really nitpicking haha

Recession coming.. already see the change in housing costs.. just a matter of months before it trickles down to demand for lower cost products and services.
Recession yes but the supply of chips is dwindling and the truckers at the LA port are honoring a picket line so that situation may get worse. And then there is raging inflation . So dwindling supply and inflation may lead to price hikes.

When congress goes republican the California Longshore will be one of the last big unions to be locked out of a job by making trade a prioritized national security interest just like the air traffic controllers... and it spur way for more automation which they have fought for decades. Also, inflation will now face consumers who can't afford these prices.. so either retail holds the bag or wholesale.. the stuff can't be warehoused forever which means sell at a lower coat (deflation) or destroy products to create scarcity. There is already falling demand for chips, except in autos.

the strikers are independent contractors — so I don't think they are Longshore union — the national security power you describe is vested in the executive branch — not congress — so any such action would have to come from whoever is pulling the strings on the senile puppet they have installed as president . Manufacturers will adjust production to where the demand is resulting in potential future reduction in PC supply because they will not adjust back anytime soon . But inflation is the big driver here . As that mindset becomes widespread people will want to spend their increasingly worthless dollars for hard goods as quickly as possible —creating an upward spiral of price increases.
