Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

did they fix the fingerprint sensor on this?
I guess they fixed it on Pixel 6 Pro which manufactured after March or April 2022.
I recently exchanged my Pixel 6 Pro under warranty, I know that Google would send me a refurb phone, so before exchange, I made sure that they would send me a brand new phone, finally after 15 minutes of argument, they decided to send a new one.
Its a day and night difference between my old and the new one, there are lots of improvements but, the most significant was the fingerprint reader, it's so swift now, I was about trade in my old Pixel 6 pro because of annoying fingerprint.
I am just waiting for Pixel 7 Pro, I usually skip one generation, but I will trade in my Pixel 6 pro anyway.
BTW, Pixel Series A bud is just a garbage, I got that free with my 6 pro, and it almost useless in 6 months.

I wish they'd use back fingerprint reader instead, easier to unlock that way as you can do it blindly.

My amazon preorder showed the buds being $80 of the total bundle, so you should get that much back if you return it. That's fair, as it is their frequent sale price. It's much better than getting it from Google or BB and trying to resell it in a market that's about to have a ton of them.

Pixel 3a updates run out sometime in the not too distant future, and my 3a is in great shape. I have a 4a5g so the 6a isn't that much of an upgrade to that, but for $150 it is a clear upgrade to the 3a and this is a huge trade-in value. Sold!

Can you use a dongle with the 6a to plug in headphones like on the 2XL or are wireless earbuds the only option?

This phonearena comparison reads like the USB-C port only works for charging, no audio, and no data transfer.

Nope, no company wants the box or anything but the phone itself

I find absolutely no reasoning behind the TIVs for cracked-screens - the more recent models get less.

Pixel 3a
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $295 -> Sweet spot IMO, for a cracked-screen Pixel 3a

Pixel 3 XL
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $292.50 (lesser than 3a)

Pixel 4
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $265

Pixel 4 XL
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $257.50

Pixel 4a 5G (1.5 generations newer)
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $260 (lesser than 3a or 3a XL)

Pixel 5
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $225 (Least of all Pixel 3 and above)

Pixel 5a
Good: $300
Cracked screen: $230

Also, I wish Google did trade-ins like Samsung does - discount the trade-in value instantly and opt to charge it if the TIV differs or trade-in device is not sent. Rather Google charges for full price and the tax for the full price, which I think would not reflect in the refund - this itself would amount to about $30 lost depending on the state and is a significant amount.

Eg.
Pixel 6a: $449
Tax for Pixel 6a: $46
Total: $495 (Paid today)
Refund for Trade-in: $300
Effective price: $195

If the discount was applied upfront, the tax would be $15 instead of $ 46, a savings of $31.
Effective price would have been $149 + $15 = $164 instead.
At least in CA they always charge based off of the full original value of the phone no matter how you're getting the discount. Frown

Yeah I'm a higher refresh rate snob but 98% of people don't even know they can turn on higher on their cheap A53 Samsung etc

And Apple hasn't cared lol
