Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

100% agree with everything you just said. It is also heavier than the 4a that I am coming from. The only reason I am keeping it is because of the $300 trade in and in the hope that I will get a higher trade-in on my next upgrade as opposed to the 4a.
When you add in the issues of eSIM compatibility with most of the network providers, without that $300, it would be totally not worth it
I don't have a screen protector yet so I can live with the onscreen fingerprint reader but the back reader on the 4a was so good and so intuitive, I really do not know why they changed it.
Going with the latest fad is not always a good thing and I cannot believe Google think they can charge $450 for this phone.
The Tensor chip is definitely faster than the snapdragon 765G. I am a big fan of the 765G chip too as I find it powerful and battery efficient. Right now I have the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G and the Pixel 6a side-by-side and the Pixel is definitely faster and snappier. The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G is fast and the 765G chip is great but the Tensor is super fast. The difference in their antutu scores is huge. The timing difference when loading up the games like 1945 Airforce is quite big (couple seconds). Tensor chip has been really impressive so far. There is no lag or choppiness at all with this Tensor chip. I have no idea what Marques was talking about with choppiness. In real world use, a half second or 1-2 seconds isn't that noticeable but when you put the Pixel 6a side-by-side, you can really notice how impressive the Tensor chip is. That is the huge antutu score difference and I can definitely feel and see it.

Any idea why the Visible IMEI check says that my unlocked Pixel 6A from the Google store is not compatible when they sell 6A themselves? Does Google have different phone hardware for CDMA and GSM carriers nowadays? I know that Visible is on Verizon's towers. Or maybe they have to update their DB?
I ran into a similar weirdness with Verizon/Tracfone. Pixel 6a is NOT compatible with WiFi calling (VOLTE) on Tracfone's Verizon network. To me that makes it useless. After a day of troubleshooting I finally got the answer. Went to a Sprint SIM on another cheapo plan and all worked perfect..

They need the phone to be fully reset and they need to be able to see the setup screen. Does your phone get to that point?

I just received both trade in boxes to send my old phones however Google Store's website still shows both trade in boxes as pending. Any one else experienced this as well?

Before shipping my 3A, is a factory reset good enough to ensure my data is secure? My 3A is encrypted now. Wondering if there is an app that would ensure data could not be recovered.

Thanks for the reply. What did you mean by the Setup screen?
To get rid of the Remote mgmt app, I flashed an image which basically resets the phone.
The phone is factory reset, but it doesn't go back to the activation page (language selection, wifi etc). It just goes to the iphone home screen and is reset.

If I factory reset again, and try activate, Apple again starts MDM remote management.

I just tried that on the order page. The estimated return amount shows $0 for the earbuds and full $449+tax for the phone itself.

It sounds like you don't actually own the phone. It seems that that could be a problem if you try to trade it in.

Well... I am not sure about how non owned phones would work.

Yes, mine still shows that the trade in kit has not been shipped, but I received it Saturday, and dropped it off at the Post Office today.
