This movie is definetly in my top ten. Saw it for the first time loved it but hated how the story didnt jive right. Years later I watched the directors cut and WOW just WOW.
Even today it's hard to get the facts.
Last Duel was just an OK movie, probably why it didn't make money. Last Kingdom is a better movie
This movie and Passion of Christ were bitter truth movies that show the reality of Christianity and crusades.
BTW, I agree that Orlando Bloom might not seem a good cast, but, the movie has so many great actors, plus the movie was not at all Gladiator like to be centered around one character, that's the reason the Orlando Bloom slight miscast didn't affect the movie.
I had a hard time with Orlando Bloom since this was the summer after Pirates of the Carribean and low and behold in Kiingdom of Heaven Orlando played a blacksmith turned Knight Templar. Very different from Pirates of the Carribean where Orland played a blacksmith turned pirate. Sorry for spoilers on both Techngro. But once the KoH directors cut came out it did not feel like a recycled character.
Interesting point, still as you know they are so called actors.
A good actor plays a hero in one movie with impeccable abilities and in the next movie a nefarious villain with the same impeccability. That's the signs of a good actor. But, not everyone can pull it up.. Orlando was certainly not perfect but, was good besides that, as I mentioned the movie scope was so big, it can overcome these kinds of imperfections.
I do think it's worth noting that the Ultimate edition blu-ray is going for $5.99 at Amazon [amazon.com], Target [target.com], and Best Buy [bestbuy.com] right now. For a dollar more, you get both the theatrical and director's cuts on disc, although you don't get the digital copy with them.
Is this the same as the Directors Cut here? I'd rather have the disc. Thanks for posting.
