I wish our government had good subsidies for electric scooters. It's more realistic to buy a good and nice electric scooter around $1k than $50k Tesla or many other inflated electric cars. IMO, this would help the planet more if we can educated the people and build better infrastructure for public transport and bikes in general. But everything we do lately is so backwards. Sorry for making it too political
That rating is going to be best case.

Real life example: I weigh 210 lbs, took it 4 miles in sport mode, with some steep hills this past weekend, and it used 35% battery.
A scooter uses less than 1/100th of the raw materials that an average car uses, if we are talking about perspective.

Average car weight: 4094 pounds.
For simplicity, we'll say the average scooter weight is 40.9 pounds, but it's probably lighter.

So I live in New York City, and I just recently moved to another part of the city. My commute now involves taking 2 subway lines and a bus. I don't mind the subway but the bus sucks.

I want a scooter that's decent to handle the industrial section of Brooklyn (bus section) but still light enough that can be transported in the subway.

Reading the comments here, it seems split.

The bus to work route is about 1.3 miles each way so I don't need something that's super long lasting but is this scooter worth it?
I switched to Unagi, lightest scooter in class (22#) with the 500w motor. I am 190# and it is powerful enough to take me up hills plus carrying it in and out of the train, and up and down the stairs. I couldn't do that with the Segway. 40+ pounds is twice the weight and seriously, it's not just a minor difference.

I went from the Xiaomi M365 to the G30P. The 365 was great and well built. The g30p is built like a tank, but also much heavier. I'd think something like the 365 would fit the bill. I wouldn't want to be carrying and stowing the 30 much. It's bulkier and heavy.

Thanks for the feedback. As much as I do like o to be built like a tank, carrying 40lb up and down the stairs is gonna be a pain in the butt. I'll deff look into other scooters like the unagi. I won't be buying this one

Thanks

they are just price gouging on these products right now, 10 years ago you could buy a 350watt electric scooter for a hundred bucks (i know, i used to sell them), i know they are better made now but the tech is also much cheaper now. i bet they make these in china for less than $100.

I had this one and it's just too heavy and bulky. This is more of a scooter you leave at work under your desk rather than being brought to work and home every day.

The reason why I haven't yet taken the plunge on these ones is because of the theft aspect. If I park it outside a store unlike a car or a motor bike it can be easily stolen, right?

Bikes and scooters will be stolen. You are familiar with angle grinders, right? They can cut steel chain links. A silly lock is nothing.

In NYC you need range AND power. The latter is to keep up with traffic. I used the G30P and found it to be uncomfortable at times due to the lack of suspension. You'll feel bumps for sure. Range is really good. I have gone from E 33rd to E 135th, and back in one trip.

As far as weight goes I carried mine into stations no problem. It's awkward to climb busy staircases due to the weight, which is the only aspect that bothered me.

When all cars are electric in less than 10 years, we are going to have a issue.

Yeah if there were better direct routes I could ebike or possibly scooter almost all places. Bike trails are fine for passing time but most aren't on a route from one part of a city to another that I've seen in my city.

Yeah that's definitely not going to happen in the US, there's no way we could revamp our electrical infrastructure and go green at the same time in 10 years.

Gas engines will be around for another 30+years in the least

I think it's hilarious that these scooter companies can take a scooter that is basically identical to their low end model, add a pole and a saddle and then charge $300 additional for it. A seat is cool, but it ain't worth that.

Please google strategic plans of major auto makers. Most don't even plan to build ICE vehicles after a few years. And its not something they can just change their mind on - all of their investments is going to electric only so gas engines are 100% dead in the next 4-5 years. The high oil prices was the final nail in the coffin.

No...the build quality on the max is way better. The ESx line uses solid wheels, a control board prone to failure, and inferior brakes.
