is this a better deal than the $350 HP 17" laptop on ebay? How do they compare?

the $350 one has a spinning pile of rust for non-volatile data storage, more ram but i bet going to 16GB costs just as much, and a slightly better processor.

edit: as pointed out below the new one already has two memory slots populated so would be more costly to go to 16GB

Thanks. this one has 2x4gb ram, but I figure to upgrade the rams in the future shouldn't be too expensive. Really $50 vs refurb/new. I chose this one. Thanks again.

Seems like a good deal for a nice general purpose laptop. Note the OS.
Operating system: Windows 11 Home in S mode

Also notice "System Memory RAM Expandable To: 8 gigabytes" which is either a typo, or disturbing.

If it was a single stick of RAM I'd bite. I need a wfh workstation to pair with an extra monitor. The 14" screens are too small for my old eyes.

I don't think it's a typo. I think it's soldered.

There's always somebody that downs a product that's been used for decades, just because something new and shiny came along.

It's 2022. No consumer should be using a spinning pile of rust for anything except large, cold data storage.
