AMEX just added 3% back on ALL U.S. online retail purchases to Blue Cash Everyday Card:

3% cashback on U.S. Online Retail Purchases (first $6000 per year)
3% cashback on U.S. Gas Stations (first $6000 per year)
3% cashback on U.S. Supermarkets (first $6000 per year)
1% cashback on everything else

https://www.americanexpress.com/u...-everyday/

Terms:
1. Cash Back Program

You will earn cash back only on eligible purchases and in the form of Blue Cash Reward Dollars (reward dollars). You can redeem reward dollars for statement credits with no minimum redemption amount. You cannot use cash back to pay your Minimum Due. The number of reward dollars you earn is based on a percentage of the dollar amount of your eligible purchases during each billing period.

Eligible purchases are purchases for goods and services minus returns and other credits. Eligible purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, balance transfers, cash advances, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of other cash equivalents.

You will earn a reward of 3% on the first $6,000 of eligible purchases in a calendar year (then 1%) at supermarkets located in the U.S. (superstores, convenience stores, warehouse clubs, and meal-kit delivery services are not considered supermarkets); 3% on the first of $6,000 of U.S. online retail purchases (then 1%), 3% on the first $6,000 of purchases of gasoline at gas stations located in the U.S. (then 1%), (superstores, supermarkets and warehouse clubs that sell gasoline are not considered gas stations); 2% on eligible purchases at select department stores located in the U.S. through 10/31/22. (The current list of select major department stores at which you can receive a 2% reward is available at americanexpress.com/rewards-info); and 1% on all other eligible purchases. Additional terms apply.

To earn additional rewards on online retail purchases, the purchase must be made on a website or a digital application (an app) from a U.S. retail merchant that sells physical goods or merchandise directly to consumers. To identify eligible online retail purchases, we rely on information provided to us by the merchant. The following are not considered retail purchases: purchases made at restaurants, supermarkets, gasoline stations, or automotive dealers, as well as purchases of travel, entertainment, or other services. Payment must be made online and categorized as an internet transaction by the merchant for the purchase to be eligible. You will not receive additional rewards for purchases ordered online but paid for in store. Payments made in store using a mobile or digital wallet or a contactless payment device are not considered online purchases. You will not receive additional rewards for purchases made by phone or mail, or by using a third party "buy now pay later" installment program.

Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. We group certain merchant codes into categories that are eligible for additional rewards. A purchase with a merchant will not earn additional rewards if the merchant's code is not included in a reward category. You may not receive additional rewards if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for a reward category. For example, you may not receive additional rewards when: a merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services; or a merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers); or you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.

Saw this in BankRate article about changes:

An Amex representative tells me the Blue Cash Everyday’s online retail category is very broadly defined. “There’s no specific list of qualifying merchants,” the Amex rep says. “It only does not apply to purchases made in store or to services bought online, like travel bookings or online food delivery. But from pet supplies to the latest kitchen gadget to new shoes, and almost everything in between, Card Members will get rewarded with 3% cash back when they shop online, on up to $6,000 per year.”

No, you can track it yourself, or create a filter to track it for you, but the date you need to track by is your anniversary date which the filter will not know. I use a Google sheet

Yes. Go to Rewards and Benefits and look at Rewards Activity. It shows you how much in rewards you've earned in each category. Calculate your benefit, for example 6% on $6,000 groceries (AMEX BCP) is $360. I've earned $150 so far so I have another $210 left to earn. My benefits run calendar year, so from Jan 1 not anniversary date.

I do not think so. You'd have to run it through as a direct credit card charge.

If you want 3% Paypal (with no $6000 cap) there is a Paypal card with 2% everything and 3% Paypal with no fee.

You are wrong , YES !! If you purchase via PayPal on these stores , they DO give you 3x back . I see it on my Amex account, I made over 10 random purchases since this 3x went live last month.

It looks permanent, because there's also 2% for department stores that has an October end date, but the online purchases do not have an end date listed. I'll add the terms to the wiki.

Saw this earlier.. wasn't using this card anymore but now it moves to be top. Wish all Amex still had extended warranty option though..
3% at Alliance is promotional until EOY, according the TOS. AMEX BCE is permanent.

Basically saves the step of buying Amazon GCs at the grocery store. I wonder what they were thinking with this though. Seems like it will cannibalize users from BCP. I would definitely downgrade if I hadn't jumped on an upgrade offer a few months ago.

is this one of the first general 3% shots fired? i remember when 2% was the target and fidelity led the way.

still not as good as my credit card which is 3% on everything, everywhere, unlimited. i spend 80% of my purchases online so this deal would be ok if i didn't have u.s. alliance
