I actually called Amex about this yesterday to see when this changed, I forgot what date they said but it might have been as of last week or so? Makes my BoA World card worthless now.
I was afraid they changed the Blue Cash preferred too, but (for now) it is still 6% up to 6k at grocery. I get 2% back with a Fidelity Visa card. Losing 3% on grocery in exchange for 3% for online would have been a big loss.

At some point the hassle of juggling cards and remembering which cards to use for what and which to pay off each month becomes not worth the hassle. I feel like I am doing more work than the rewards are paying me for.

SERIOUSLY??? My preferred Amex Blue I pay over $100 per year just to have earns 1% in online and this one triple that?? I'm definitely going to cancel my Preferred Blue. This is ridiculous and a spit on the face to customers like me who have paid annual fees for over 10 years...

I switched from preferred to regular. Do the math on that grocery deal. You pay $100 fee to get $360 max rewards. Or $0 fee for $180. Difference is only $80 after fee. But making 3% online vs 1% you could come out ahead. I will based on my spending.
is this one of the first general 3% shots fired? i remember when 2% was the target and fidelity led the way.
still not as good as my credit card which is 3% on everything, everywhere, unlimited. i spend 80% of my purchases online so this deal would be ok if i didn't have u.s. alliance
in real life, the us alliance either renews for 3% for the next year or when a few competitors hit the 3% mark, they go to 4%.
if amex is permanent, that would suck. i would hate to be stuck at 3% for the rest of my life. in real life, amex is set at 3%....until it changes. hardly call that permanent.
usalliance > amex
So your "in real life" is just completely made up hope?
The 3% cash back on online retail overlaps with what I use my BoA Customized Cash Rewards card for.
They finally got rid of the $25 minimum to redeem you cash back towards statement credit. But BoA gives you more options to redeem the cash back like DD or check.

is there a dashboard somewhere to track how much of the yearly $6000 is left to be used?
Not a complete, interactive dashboard, but I can see a summary of it under Rewards & Benefits (logged in). For me, it shows US gas stations (3%), US Online retail purcahses (3%), US Supermarkets (3%), select US Dept stores (2%), Other purchases (1%), and bonus earn. Also, there is now a 3% next to each eligible purchase (ebay qualifies for 3%).

I noticed the change on Jul 14 when I logged in on the account, the card switcher had the new card design. The change could have been earlier but yeah I contacted chat that same day to request a replacement card with the new design. I'm an existing BCE cardholder so the new benefits applied.

Citi spending cap is the same 6k per year, right? $500 per statement cycle?
