Saw this earlier.. wasn't using this card anymore but now it moves to be top. Wish all Amex still had extended warranty option though..

SERIOUSLY??? My preferred Amex Blue I pay over $100 per year just to have earns 1% in online and this one triple that?? I'm definitely going to cancel my Preferred Blue. This is ridiculous and a spit on the face to customers like me who have paid annual fees for over 10 years...
I believe if you stay within the "Blue Cash" family you can downgrade w/o any credit penalty.

If you already have this card does that mean you now have the new cash back rates?
Yes.

Didn't know about this. Works on appliances also? 5.25% is the only reason I used that card

Does BOA cash rewards have extended warranty benefit?
For Visas this is a common perk but check your card's terms. It typically adds 1 year warranty to almost anything that is bought new (no refurbs).

I am going to assume the Google Store purchase will be considered as an online retail purchase and will earn 3% cashback.
Most likely yes. I just canceled my MacBook order and reordered to get 3%.

Anyone try Home Chef yet? $15/monthly credits. Just wondering what the cheapest box costs
I think it's $40 / month + $15 shipping, so essentially you get free shipping. Haven't bought it yet, was going to research to see if any coupons/promos might stack.

I recently emailed us alliance when I was considering applying for their card. They confirmed in no uncertain terms that the 3% deal ends after this year. Permanently.

Ask them yourself... Then I bet you'll quit promoting their trash. 🤷 ♂️
The card reverts to 2% on everything in 2023 which is still good, and it still has most traditional credit card benefits. Although supposedly extended warranty is no longer covered, calling the processor of claims several months ago, I was told it still was a benefit.

I pay $700 for the Platinum and $250 for the gold and I'm not complaining, they are different cards with different purposes and perks, if that's a big deal for you just cancel the BCP and get the BCE for free.

I have the blue cash preferred and I think it still has good value for the annual fee. In terms of grocery spending, 3% vs 6% with annual fee is a break even at $277/month.

Accounting for online spending, you've got 6% for online streaming services too, so that can add up.

As for the 3% online retail, I think it's kind of a wash, since you get 5% PayPal cashback with chase and discover for 2 quarters in a year, and a lot of retail have their own 5% cards like target and Amazon.

Not to mention you also can get 2% cashback with citi double cash and others pretty easily.

For my own use case, I'm sticking with Costco visa (gas 4x, dining/travel 3x), blue cash preferred (groceries, streaming, and parking/transit), and double cash for non category spend, and chase freedom/discover for relevant quarters.

that's what the terms says but every september or so, you get a nice "we're happy to inform you that rate for 2023 remains at 3%...." email. i'll be back to post the update when i get it, just like last year.
The 3% has only existed since March 2020, so don't act like there is a whole history of consistency. It went back down to 2% briefly in February 2021. They brought it back to 3% in April. Then in October they announced it would be good through 12/31/22.

I understand. Not trying to be crass, just noticed I'm not getting many benefits over the years... I also have the Gold. What do you like about the Gold? I noticed there's a 'travel credit' on it -- what can it be used for?

Call the number on your card and see if they will try to retain you. Say you are thinking about cancelling and they will send you to retentions. If you aren't satisfied with their offer just product change down to the Blue Cash Everyday which has no annual fee and get these benefits.

Not the person you were asking but I too have the Amex Plat & Gold. For me the Gold is my main grocery and dining card. I wish it counted international grocery and had one or two more core travel benefits but oh well.

The two $10 per month credits [americanexpress.com] are relatively easy to make use of, but it might not be for everyone. For me I have a Cheesecake factory about 10 minutes away, so that's an easy $10 value each month. On top of all the various perks from the Platinum I always end up making more than the combined $945 annual fees each year.

Have you ever used the BCP to buy a $500 VISA gift card at a grocery store?
Does it code to get you 6% ?

I've purchased Amazon gc before and it got the 6%, but I never tried visa gc. I think it would work too. Keep in mind you're are capped at $6k/year for the 6%. So you're not going to make that much on cashback
