PNC has a credit card that is 4% on gas and its a Visa so you can use it at costco. It also earns 3% on dining. And 2% on grocery, but like everyone should have a 2% anywhere cashback card so the grocery amount isn't anything to write home about.
BOA got a 2.625% cashback card, unlimited, just need 100k

First, I use all of my cards frequently so negative balance is not an issue. It's pretty simple...I do this with all of my cards but for the sake of simplicity let's say I only have two.

Card 1 has $1,000 balance and $100 in rewards. I redeem rewards as statement credit. When the card gets paid (all of my cards have autopay for full statement balance), now it only takes $900 to pay in full. Then $100 gets transferred from my main checking account (same account I pay these cards from) to my HYSA.

Card 2 has $500 balance and $25 in rewards. Same thing. I redeem a statement credit. $475 gets paid on the due date and $25 gets transferred from main checking to HYSA.

In reality, I do this all at once on all my cards and make a single lump sum transfer to HYSA to keep it simple. At the end of the day, the money all balances out. It takes almost no time to do these steps....click a few redeem buttons, add up all the amounts, and make a transfer.

Make sense?

If a card gets higher point values for something else, I will likely make a different kind of redemption. For instance, one card gets 50% more value being applied to travel purchases so I redeem that accounts points for travel directly. But for the cards where 1 point = 1cent and there aren't any other redemption options, the above method works best for me.

I just realized that Costco and Costco gas does not work for this card. That's basically where all my groceries and gas come from. Anyone have recommendations on a card that works for Costco and Costco gas? Thanks.

Will this card work for IRS tax payments via paypal up to $6k? (also, if not, does anyone know if the 3% paypal mastercard work for IRS official payments via PayUSAtax or ACI?)

New card design is slick! I really prefer this style without the raised numbers.

Regarding the 3% online, the terms seem to suggest that any purchases through third party wallets will not count even if it's an online purchase. Does anyone know if that is true or not? For security, I usually use Paypal or Apple Pay if I can. It would be a bummer if you have to enter the actual card information in order to get the cashback.

Pretty sure no since it won't be coded as merchant by the processor.

It is a nice looking card, but they have an issue of several of their cards starting to look almost the same. It is getting tough for me to tell them apart.

Haven't used AMEX since they ended return protection. I have other cards that give 3% on everything with no limits. Amex is matching the competition but this is not unique or special in any way.

Wow...something worthwhile being added. Amex now becomes the go to card by default imo as no one else gives 3% on all online merchandise purchases.

Must be really hurting because this is the first time I have seen a CC add a useful service in a number of years. Most have been removing benefits. In the past with Amex it has been their usual Amex offers only for mostly nonsensical wine or various other never used merchants.
Actually, my boa card gives 3% back on online purchases too.

Is it 3% back on food delivery services like Uber Eats?

The old Blue cashback card was unsightly. The new version (this one in OP) is back to the traditional AMEX cards. A conservative straight forward appearance with a bit of artistic flash to it. Nice bold colors.

This card moves way up the list for best value card with the increased 3% categories.

They do on some cards, at least one of my business cards still has it.

BoA is $2500 purchase limit/quarter on 3% category. Blue Cash is $6000 limit/year.
So BoA has higher annual purchase limit but limited by quarter.

Blue Cash has 3% (6% for preferred) on grocery as well, which was what I mainly used it for.

AMEX adding 3% for online will let me switch BoA 3% to a different category or use it as backup if I max out the $6K on the AMEX.
