Seems like a powerhouse for work but Vega 8 gaming is likely moderate at best. But as a work laptop this is appealing
Normally ThinkBook 14 and 15 series laptops maxed out with a 45% NTSC or around 55%-60% sRGB display and in this Gen 4, they are now allowing it to be configured with a 100% sRGB screen which I think makes this deal better.
I agree that VEGA 8 is a let down but that is still equivalent to Iris Xe 80 EU version you see in the 11th and 12th Gen i5 CPUs.
CPU performance wise, this is a extremely powerful machine. Lenovo allows this laptop to run the CPU at 30W-35W TDP, resulting almost H series level performance. Using tools like AMD APU Tuning Utility, it can be even configured to allow more TDP without overheating.
That laptop is a overall superior consumer laptop in terms of build quality, higher resolution 16:10 display, all metal construct etc.
The advantage of this laptop is partially upgradable ram, HDMI 2.1 port, ethernet port and dual storage slots if you don't consider other business specific features.
This vs ideapad 5 pro, 14. Which is available refurbished for 537? With same 58xx processor?
The ThinkBook series is a step above the IdeaPad Pro series. It's in between their ThinkPad and IdeaPad series. The ThinkBook 13s on sale right now for about $100 more than this has a 6800U and LPDDR5 ram. If you're going to get this, I'd say just get the 13s, or wait for the new IdeaPad 5 Pro 15 to go on sale. If you want to save, go with the refurb.
Although I'd wait a few days if you can, as usually the Outlet will drop the price every few days that an item is in stock. It went to $510 last time.

It still works with codes SUPERTHINKJULY and BTS2022, and will drop it more if you have a student/military/etc. ID.me.
With the ID.me, you could potentially get it at $803. And RetailMeNot is having a 12% cash back offer on Lenovo right now.
Dude, dont make up stuffs. That ThinkBook name doesn't make it better than IdeaPad Pro series. Just like any series, it has multiple sub versions with different qualities.
And do you have any ideas what ThinkBooks are? They're based on Lenovo's consumer laptops with Business specific software and hardware features added. Based on their model, they're based on different IdeaPad series with certain features and extra ports added. I have used IdeaPad Pro 14 and ThinkBook 14 and IdeaPad 5 Pro is far superior. The concept is similar what Dell uses in their Vostro lineup.

The ThinkBook series is marketed towards professionals. See link below. They also undergo drop testing and other survivability testing/additional quality control. It ABSOLUTELY is higher quality than any of the IdeaPad line, which is entirely marketed to consumers.
The link below is even a comparison of the ThinkPad and ThinkBook series, BY LENOVO themselves. Do you really think they'd even put machine of lower quality than the consumer-only IdeaPad alongside a comparison to their best models?
It went down to $509.99 last night. Were you able to pick one up??
If not, the new IdeaPad Pro and ThinkBook series are gradually being released with AMD processors. You might be able to pick one up at Labor Day or Black Friday.
There's also a ThinkBook 14 Gen 2 with i5/16GB/512GB for $465 right now on the Outlet.

It has higher rigidity or robustness and that's not equivalent to build quality. As per your logic, even a basic ThinkPad E series laptop will have better build quality than the highest end consumer laptops like say Dell XPS 15 or Lenovo Yoga 9 because those consumer laptops don't have the rigidity testing and MIL certification like ThinkPad which we all know is not true. Don't confuse that MIL certification, robustness with build quality.
And why do you think ThinkPad or ThinkBook are their best models? That is the name of their Business series laptops and within that, they have different sub categories, ranging from couple of hundreds to couple of thousands Dollar. The logic you're using is kinda childish.

Did... did you just compare the ThinkPad E15 to a model from a totally different manufacturer? And then proceed to call my logic childish?
Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and bow out. If you can't see the irony of your comment, and won't listen to the actual manufacturer's comparison (which I linked), AND won't take the mil-spec testing as additional quality control, then I can tell right away any conversation with you would be completely pointless.
