If you are actually going to use the account or can auto pay some bills with debit, you might consider Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union. 3.3% for up to $20k balance with 15 debit transactions and a monthly dd. The dd can be a deposit from almost any bank. I auto-transfer in $10 from ally monthly and have the cable bill to autopay $2, 15 times a month to earn the preferred rate.
Boo...
Bonuses are for people who don't have existing Chase checking or savings accounts, or those whose accounts have not been closed within the last 90 days. Keep in mind, you can receive only one new checking and one new savings account opening related bonus every two years from the last coupon enrollment date and only one bonus per account.
Left Chase earlier this year for Sofi because of the sign up bonuses and interest rates.
Sofi currently has a 1.8% interest rate on both checking and savings and Chase still has a 0.01% Savings interest rate even after all the Fed hikes.
Obviously the Chase bonus is great for bonus churners and the people who actually go into banks in 2022 but I'm not switching back for 0.01%.

Read the fine print. If EITHER account (checking or savings, depending on which offer you do) is closed within six months, then they will take back the bonus.
Quick question: I transferred $15k from an external account into my Chase checking, and then into my Savings. It occurred to me that it could not be considered new money unless the external transfer occurred directly into the Savings account. Any way to find out? Opinions?

yes. thats a no no. why did you do that? why didnt you just xfer straight to savings instead? its too late now i guess.
I guess I need to bring in 15000 to the Savings from another outside account...
yes. its too late now. you will need to bring another $15k directly to your savings. i just wonder why you xfered to checking instead of savings to begin with.

I misread the directions. I thought it was not possible to transfer directly to savings.
I got this email the other day as a chase CC holder and it's probably been 5+ years since I last had a checking acct but I decided to take advantage of their $600 offer (checking+savings).
* I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I could get setup/approved with both accts online (it helps to be a longstanding CC holder, I guess). I unfroze Experian incase they needed that.
* I was able to use PLAID to link my current bank and having not seen any limits on the external transfers, i went ahead and initiated a transfer for all the money they need to earn the bonus ($1500+$15K) from my primary bank. I can move the $1500 out whenever the DD starts.
* I immediately got a call from fraud prevention. Even though I correctly answered all of their questions and they agreed that I was who I said I was, they said they couldn't do the transfer. Not because I hit a limit, but because they won't do it. My options for funding are now:
1) Write a check
2) Initiate a push from my primary bank (gonna take a few days since I need to verify my links to Chase first)
3) Wire tranfer the money in at a cost of $50 or whatever scummyness they charge.
TLDR: Chases onboarding STILL sucks.
We'll see if I remain a checking customer for more than 6 months (hah!)

First step is tracked with green circle and checked marked with it.
Current step is with only green cirlcle but not checked marked. I believe it will have a checked marked after 90 days period.
Do you see same status ?
They have made very tricky to trap customer and the last, not to give any bonus.
4 statuses in there, second one is of relevance for you.
Deposit 15k by date - as long you added 1k by this date, you should be fine.

At least 90 days or bonus taken away!
