Unlike OIS, which is the current standard for OMT blade attachments accepted by virtually all manufacturers except Bosch. OIS blades can be found cheap and expensive from all major vendors as well as third party blade companies.
The advantage of Starlock are basically (1) easy blade change - you flip a lever and the blade ejects. It is the best blade change system, other manufacturers offers "tool free change" that may include a lever you wind up and down to tighten or loosen. (2) more power - the Starlock interface is what they called "3D". It is not a flat blade, it has a hump that mates to the OMT and that is what allows the tool to transfer a higher power to the blade, which translates to cleaner and faster cutting.
I personally have both Bosch Starlock corded, 12V and 2 other OMTs from Rockwell and Dremel. I use all of them. Yes Bosch cutting is faster, but I have over 100 OIS blades and I can't just let them collect dust. So when it comes to deciding which one to use on a particular day, it depends on the task at hand. If I need aggressive and fast cutting, then I pick up the Bosch, if I am doing something delicate and power is not a factor, then I pick up my Roclwell OMT. The 12V Bosch OMT is useless, it says it is a Starlock but it needs an allen wrench to mount the blades, what a joke.
Someone asked about an adapter to use OIS blades on Bosch OMTs. Yes they do exist. Look on ebay. There is a supplier from Russia and one from Scandinavia. I think they run $28-$45 plus shipping. I wanted to use the Bosch OMT with OIS blades so I gave the adapter a try. Does it mount? Yes. Does it work? No. The reason is the interface between the OMT and the adapter is "3D", then the interface between the adapter and an OIS blade is flat, so when you use the adapter to do cutting, and if you have to dial the speed to anything higher than 3, the blade will come loose after a minute or so because it cannot handle the additional power from the OMT and the interface between the adapter and the blade wears. So if you are using an OIS adapter to do some light sanding at speed 2, probably will work for a while. If you are going to use a wood blade to cut at speed 5, don't even bother.

I have a crazy amount of 18v bosch from previous deals. I wasn't going to ever get that oscillating due to the proprietary star lock, and in fact just last night ordered a worx brushless because i have a need for a cordless one atm. But at this price i'll grab it and throw it in the pile of tools along with couple other things that fill in missing tools gap like the sander, and a spare vac.

I do not want to be locked into anything proprietary.
