Be careful as Fi wants the number you ported to be on this phone to get the $600 discount. They check nightly and they find out the number is on other phone then they will charge the $600 on your CC after 4 months. I got the Pixel 6 when it was for 399 and used the Fi SIM on my Essential PH1 and got a notification that Promo guidelines not met and they would charge the discounted amount to my CC.

Many of us got this deal not to keep GFi but to get the phone cheap accounting for the 4mo usage and terminating after that. Getting an unlocked S22+ for less than $500 total with no trade-in. No complications.

Leave the GFi sim in and use your regular service via the eSim as the primary since it comes unlocked. The Google Fi app shows the countdown timer to 120 days and them you port your number back to Google voice.

No need to make it unnecessarily complicated.

Unless you live in a State without tax and fee you will NEVER get $20 a month

More realistic is somewhere between $23- $26 which end up to $92 - $104

If you want the S23 ultra, you can get the 128GB S22 Ultra and then trade in when the S23 ultra comes out. They usually have really good trade in values for the previous gen flagships. As an example, Samsung was giving $1000 for the S21 ultra a month or so ago. They don't differentiate between storage levels, so if you are buying to trade in, just go for the lowest storage capacity.
Did you ever order from fi ?

I have been sitting on it. Going to Best Buy in an hour to see if I even like the S22 compared to my Note 10+.

I may not trade in the iPhone 11 to Google Fi, but just wait for it to unlock and sell it on CL or OfferUp. I should be able to get the $285 Fi if offering considering the phones are in brand new condition and are a few months old, but even if I can get $250, it is better than sending them in to Fi for trade in and then getting scammed by the trade in company. Not trading in also removes the chance of Amex clawing back the $75 Google Fi promotion due to refund for the phone. Fi was offering $320 as of a couple of weeks ago, but now the trade-in is less lucrative at $285. Worst case, I can just keep the iPhone 11s for trade in somewhere else. I know there are a lot of great trade in deals when new phones are launched.

Also, I may just pay the $40 to keep the two lines active for 3 months total and receive the 18k points that I can use to get a $200 phone for just taxes out of pocket + 1 month plan, or just pick up a new iPhone 11 for $100 + tax on $300 + $25 plan (about $150).

I am also considering last option. Since the iphone 11 from tw is as good as new just unlock and sell on fb or worst case wait for some other tradein.

I am also thinking about getting 18k points if possible 20k to get 300 for new iphone 11. The issue is not sure if the 20k will be equal to 300 in 2 months so might be just wasting money keeping lines alive... This way TracFone is better where you can get 3 lines for 60 for 20k points for 90 days then buy new iphone for 320 but not sure if 20k points will translate to $300....

Yeah, I have 5 line on TF. As soon as I have enough to get a $300 coupon, I'll get another IP11 and a cheap plan.

The moment I saw that Google just wants to keep the phone if they can't offer the promised trade in value, I was already not sure about trading in. And sure enough, there are a lot of horror stories out there where they just kept a perfect phone. F that. Such practices should be illegal. They are designed to scam customers. They should return thr phone if they decide its not worth the trade in. Build that cost into the trade in value, or just charge us $10 for return shipping. F these scumbags.

I think they use 3rd part for tradeins but still should return phone instead of keeping it if lower value that ways everyone will be happy.. they do return for trade ins on Google store but Fi is different....

Anyways did u buy 5 lines on tracephone or total wireless for points?

Keep pushing them on it, and don't give up. Their customer service is VERY bad, but they might eventually help.

There's a form on www.reddit.com/r/GoogleFi/ that they just created a few days ago. You can use that to escalate support issues when the normal channels are not helpful. Hopefully they can help you get the issue fixed!

Thanks so much for the shared link. I have filed a complaint for this and hopefully get back from Fi soon.

I got the first two lines on TF last November when HSN had the A51 on sale for $54 or so with cb and coupon. Then added three more lines for a total of five on my account. All came with 1 year 1500 plans, so I just plan on keeping them for the full year. We ported my wife's number to TF for one of them, so she actually uses TF as her daily driver now. Since she doesn't use a lot of data, I just use the points to buy 1GB at a time. I also have 17k points available and 14k more becoming available in a month and a half. At that point, I'll redeem them for a phone.

TW is a different story. I primarily bought those two IP11s to trade in to Google Fi, but after reading all these stories of people not getting the promised trade in values, I am most likely going to go in a different direction as I mentioned in my previous posts.

The phones we got from Total Wireless are not new, but refurbished by a company in TN. They look like new, but who knows how the trade in goes with them. I'm just keeping the phones and waiting for them to unlock by the end of September. Once unlocked, their resale value will go up considerably, so I'll just sell them locally instead of taking a risk and sending them in to these clowns.

Yeah, you never know what phones will be available on TW in 2 months, but in my case the 18k points will still let me get a $200 phone coupon, which will offset the $40 I need to keep the lines alive.

FYI, I know mine is a niche case, but this is for those that use Google Fi for frequent international travel.

I was recently overseas for just over 3 months. Despite following all of their recommendations by minimally using my Google Fi sim, getting a local unlimited sim for data in each country, and using WiFi otherwise, they shut off my international data just before my flights back to the US. I reached out to their customer service and then to their Twitter when all else failed. This is a hard rule that they don't use any common sense to allow exceptions for. I would've been out of luck with no data on the way home had I not also had a T-Mobile sim that had not cut me off. With the recent upgrades to T-Mobile's higher tier Magenta plans, Google Fi is not really useful overseas anymore for long-term travel.

Got the S22 for a family member. Very unimpressed. The phone always gets hot even when not doing anything intensive like just browsing the phone's settings or transfering files (CPU speed was already set on optimized) which means it will definitely throttle when you need max CPU power. The battery life is terrible due to smaller battery. Audio doesn't get very loud. Small screen for a flagship phone. Only 1080p for a flagship. Some of the features don't work at all like "keep screen on when viewing". I had to buy a charger on ebay because greedy Samsung doesn't include them anymore and wants $35 for a tiny charger. No 3.5 mm jack. No card slot.

There's no way this downgraded-to-hell portable heater is worth $800. Even at $350 I have regrets. I would skip the S22 series altogether and get something else.

Pretty easy just got a number from number barn and ported it in. I used the "new" # for a couple days then just reset the phone and used my metro number. After the 120 days I canceled. Easy

Not on a everyday basis with other carriers but Tmobile often has deals for additional lines and it is possible to get 4 lines of their basic service around that price.
T-Mobile is also noticeably cheaper for international travelers: the Magenta plan seems roughly comparable to the Unlimited Plus plan on Google Fi with the exception of additional SIM support and unlimited tethering.
