Because Brother home printers are workhorses. All the Brother printers I've ever owned have been super reliable and work for years and years. All the other brand printers I've owned (e.g., Lexmark, Canon) crapped out, were intermittently unreliable, or needed frequent attention.

DCP doesn't have fax. DCP refurb is 159.99 FYI. Would have gotten that if it wasn't out of stock.

After having a Canon Inkjet MFP for a decade I decided to go monochrome laser. While I did print the occasional 4x6 and 5x7 color picture and even full letter size color pictures I decided to let Walmart and Walgreens handle these going forward. The print head on my Canon would constantly clog up and normal printing started developing lines. I would clean the head with warm, distilled water every year and while this normally fixed the problem, it no longer does. I love how laser is marketed towards business but in reality it's the best option for people who only print occasionally. Sometimes I go 6 months without printing, other times I print 50 pages in a week.

I think people don't use printers as often now since more and more are going digital on top of pandemic logistic issues and inflation hence leading to increased prices? I feel like I only print coupons but even those are going digital.i used to buy brothers monochrome laser new for $29 and I have a few color lasers all-in-one with wireless g that I got for under $100. Back in the days people used to buy printers and throw them out when they run out of starter toners/inks since they're cheaper to throw out and buy new.

Yes they did. Been shopping for a new printer for a month. Almost got the 2325 for $110 which is the best deal I've seen in a while. This used to be an $89 MSRP printer, on sale for cheaper before covid screwed the world up.

Also side note, I've heard that if you update the firmware on Brother printers, then and only then will it lock you to Brother OEM toners/drums. No idea if this is true. Something about being open at point of sale due to laws but if you agree to update the firmware, that's how they lock you in after the sale.

Mono laser is the way to go for home use. Most people print a few times per year. Maybe 20—30. Ink printers will get gummed up and become useless. Laser is always there, ready to go. My toner has lasted me years now. No messy ink, gunked up nozzles, etc. If you want to print color or photos just send them to Walgreens or any other app/store. Save yourself the headache

Which of these printers is a very good one to own? Regardless of price. Also I think I prefer one that prints colors. I don't know the difference. Are monochrome laser printers colors or not?

Monochrome means it only prints in black ink
