Because Brother home printers are workhorses. All the Brother printers I've ever owned have been super reliable and work for years and years. All the other brand printers I've owned (e.g., Lexmark, Canon) crapped out, were intermittently unreliable, or needed frequent attention.

Has inflation hit these printers too? I re-call buying a brother wireless laser during peak WFH time in 2020 for $80 and thought I overpaid for it. Anyway it's worth it. Still on the original toner and does it's job. Apple AirPrint compatible so can print from the phone as well.

This is correct. The only thing that Ink Jets are better for is if you need to print pictures. If you must get one, get one that allows you to use 3rd party, cheap cartridges.

I'm not sure what your point is. My printer doesn't cost anything now, other than toner replacements (cheap ones that work well on Amazon or eBay).
