Have never had a pellet grill, doing a little reading… do people in humid areas really remove unused pellets after use (if they're not going to grill in the next week)? That seems cumbersome
it looks like it is a regional sale. i'm in michigan. my buddy is shopping for one in NC and it is $350 there. if you can score one for $280, that's a steal.

I lived in Tampa FL for years with a Camp Chef pellet grill and never removed the pellets. Id go weeks between cooks on it, never any issues.

Whoever told you that people in humid areas remove unused pellets after use, was pulling your chain. A couple pit masters in humid areas commented that you don't have to. Now pull the trigger on the Traeger or this starter unit here. Hope that helps!

I'm my defense, this site said it (with quotes from traeger and pitboss) https://www.pelheat.com/leaving-p...ppers.html
But I'll take that as corporate CYAing and lean on the advice from members here, gonna pick one up in the morning
Actually got one of these pre-covid for like 200 bucks. Was a steal and would definitely recommend as a starter.
Temp consistency/accuracy(throughout) seems to be the biggest issues people have with this grill. Has worked well for me I just wouldn't pack it with a bunch of meat.
For the price give it a shot.

I've definitely had the issue with the unit jamming if not using the grill for awhile and I'm in Illinois so YMMV. It was VERY hard to remove the pellets that had jammed up the auger, so much so that I make sure it is empty after every use following that incident.
With that said, I really like the unit and the only major complaints as compared to a normal grill are:
1. Startup time takes longer than propane.
2. Cleanup time takes longer than propane.
3. It doesn't get hot as a quality propane grill so it is slightly more difficult to get a quality sear.
I do really like this unit, but a propane is more convenient to me.
Also, for temperature issues, what I found is that if you preheat the grill to like 300-350 for like 10 minutes before lowering it to 200 or 250, the temperature is alot more consistent. If you don't do the preheating, and you are smoking at a lower temperature, it can drive you crazy because the temperature keeps fluctuating.

Also, how does this compare to the 700FB on the front page?
