The former model was 475 CFM and the new one is 1070 CFM, so about 2.25 times the blow.

Direct Tools Outlet has the old one for $60 without a battery so this seems like a deal if you need or want the 2.0 battery.

Edit: I misread it. It is 670 CFM and 1070 Feet Per Minute.

Would this deal allow you to return the battery or are they packaged together?

I'm seeing 475 older VS 670 (this one) in CFM units, and this version listing 1070 in FPM. I'm smooth brained and have no idea on the difference (without looking it up).

Good question, wondering the same. And if it's hackable, wondering the final cost of the fan.

This is 1 sku for the fan and battery. I don't see how there can be a hack to split the purchase and save more. Most reviews that are negative complain about the fan noise level and bearing noise. I think I'll pass.

FPM is the speed of the air being moved CFM is the volume or quantity of air being moved.

I bought the old version refurbished for use during power outages. It has been great. I don't use it often, but it is nice to have.

If this had a charger it would be a great gift!

I think I have an extra charger or 2, so maybe....

I had 2 old ones for outdoor use, and I went with ridgid for their warranties although I have not had to use them...

But, I love the battery powered fans. With 4ah batteries they last comfortably for the daytime if you're outside. The fact that the new ones are more powerful has me interested to learn more. Do they drain faster? If so, it may not be worth it because I don't even use the old ones on full blast most of the time.

If I'm reading this correctly it looks like the original version has a larger fan blade. That's interesting because you would think it could be More Efficient than the new one with a smaller blade.

I think it's safe to say the newer version wouldn't run nearly as long at max CFM. I have the original, it's ok but neither of these is going to perform like a regular AC fan. A box fan can put out twice the airflow.

Why didn't they just slightly increase the size of the fan to address flow complaints? Who knows.
