This is the newer high speed fuel model. Smaller head and lower torque than the original fuel, but faster spin.

That's how you're supposed to use it - break it loose with arm power, then pull the trigger to zip it off the rest of the way. Even the Fuel won't break a lot of bolts free on its own and trying to do so without loosening first can result in bashed knuckles.

The 2nd gen model Fuel has 55lb/ft of torque and is much larger. OP's version is the 3rd generation version ( in the M12 ratchet line) that retains similar size as the OG brushed motor version ( its slightly larger all around) but has a high speed motor while retaining the 35ft/lb torque as the OG.

I prefer the brushed over the fuel version. It's lighter and smaller, making it easier to get in tighter spaces.

Is there any reason to own this one if I've already got the original M12 version? I use the one i've got several times a week....it rarely even gets put away because most jobs I do involve it.

Worth it if you have another most-used socket that you can grab and go instead of changing it out.

This one has the same torque rating (35 Ft- LBS) , but spins at 450 RPM vs. 250 RPM of the non Fuel version (2457-20) Both are not really made for initial loosening or final tightening of fasteners.

Comparison is for a different model. But here's a good webpage that has specs for the other M12 ratchets

Can I use the regular 3/8 sockets that I already have or do I need to buy an "Impact" socket set to use this?

Does anyone have a good HEX sockets they recommend for this? It will be a life saver to put some furniture together.

This is not an impact wrench so non-impact ready sockets are fine.

This isn't an impact wrench. You can use regular 3/8 sockets, especially if you're just assembling furniture.

Not really, unless like most SDers you like to have at least two of everything.
