Different forms of these smart alarm clocks keep coming out, but they all continue to miss the killer feature, namely a battery backup so that time continue to be kept and an alarm will sound without power or network connection.

They all tell time. This one SHOWS time! Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuun.
TBH I have 2 of the Gen 3s w/clocks and they're well worth the extra cost.
The auto-dimming feature works great for the bedroom or bathroom. I hate the new ball. The puck is a much better fit for me.

There are some scenarios that time display is much needed. One example, will you ask Alexa what time it is in very early morning while someone sleeps besides you?

The good times when Echo Dot or Google Home mini for $5 less or free are gone. Adding couple more dollars for time display model is not laughable.

I grabbed two of the Lenovo's when they were $10.00 at Wally. I really like having the time and outside temp displayed at all times.

Agreed. Extra line is helpful on my Insignia smart speaker. It shows current temperature normally. And It shows context info when doing specific jobs. For example, when I say set 15 minutes timer, it shows 15:00 on the second line. So I can confirm it's really 15 minutes timer instead of 50 minutes timer.

just add it from best buy and the lightbulb (+4 months of sirius XM digital) are auto added. If you order 2, it seems to only come with 1 lightbulb + subscription, but I placed 2 separate orders and both are listed as coming with a free light bulb. Free shipping so didnt matter.

That's the same link that's in the original post. I think they wanted a link to the free bulb offer but this is not needed because it adds the bulb automatically.

It works as an alarm. Clock is ok but not the brightest but the WORST part is there is a glitch with the mute function. If you move your arm anywhere near it it mutes it. I can be a foot or two away and it interprets my movement as a wave to mute.

I had the old Puck version without the clock. I like the clock feature but it doesn't seem as sensitive to my voice as the old version.
