Yeah, over 50% of oven repairs are related to the self clean function 🤦🏻. I'm surprised they have them still but it caught on and it's what everyone wanted.
Does this stuff work anything like heavy duty?

Ha, no doubt. Sadly, it's cemented as a standard.
I agree! Self cleaning gets to about 700 degrees and can fry the boards and will definitely loosen up the glues holding on the face plates.
At least you don't need to worry about cancer /s
If you use the self cleaning option, remember to leave home during the process, including taking the pets. It let's off dangerous carbon monoxide from high heating temps, which can be up to 900°. In addition, using the self cleaning oven can actually damage internal parts of your oven. I learned this the hard way.
