You're comparing a 32" 16:9 monitor to a 38" ultrawide curved monitor.
I think the point here is they are two monitors in different classes with some fundamental differences in specs, makes the comparison being made kind of moot.
It's the thunderbolt 3 connection that drives up the price. All usb-c monitors I've seen are overpriced tbh

You can get a 48" LG C1 OLED screen and a 34" QHD ultrawide monitor for about the same price as this thing if you play your cards right. $1200 is crazy talk at this point for such a small panel.. LG brand name or not..
I think this price point still make sense to some people, I'm still on the fence about pulling the trigger on this one. It was my dream monitor 2 years ago but at the time there were so stick so I had to go with U3818. To me 48 is too big especially with a huge base which means need a deeper desk, so even at $800 (which is a amazing deal) I had to pass. 34 is a tad small.

38 is the perfect size, just with there's a OLED version of this one then it will be perfect lol

Beware of burnin.. LG wouldn't honor their warranty on burn-in.
but this is not an oled — what kind of burn in do IPS suffer

I think he was referring to image retention, not burn-in. I have this monitor from a previous deal, and while it has great colors and response time, I had two image retentions until now. They are easy to fix with YouTube videos, but still...I would not expect this from a $1.2k monitor.

Can't justify anymore with MiniLED quickly taking over the market.

Honestly just get a USB-C/Thunderbolt hub and affix it under your monitor/stand/desk. Save the $

At $729 the Gigabyte AORUS FI32U seems to beat this monitor on EVERY metric including gaming by a wide margin (8.6 to 8.3)

I have:

ASUS 34" PG348Q (One of the very first Ultrawide monitors to come out).

This LG 38"

Samsung Mini LED Odyssey 49"

I can honestly say, this LG 38" is my favorite if you do FPS and Work/Gaming.

Simulation, the 49" is sick for Racing and Flying, the ASUS stood it's time for a good 6 years, but I love the LG. Sure, I could go for more pixels, but I just don't think it's going to happen anytime soon while achieving G-Sync and the Hz that it does.

Very very happy with the LG.

I think that is a viable threat and a good point. Not sure how long it'll take to trickle into this market. I see LG did a 40" version of this monitor too? Not sure if the panel or backlighting changed.

Erm this is about the same price as the 34" Alienware QD OLED. Which comes with a 3 year burn in warranty. Not even sure why anyone would consider this one.

I've been using this monitor for one and half years, and I got aw3423dw in June. I sold my aw3423dw in a week and switched back to this monitor because 3423dw is just too dim for me. I thought I could get great HDR experience on 3423dw but it wasn't. I have lg c1 and samsung s95b oled tv's, and 3423dw is nowhere near them in terms of HDR performance.

Precisely my point — I am comparing a 32 " monitor to a 38" monitor that is not rated a s highly and costs a lot more — so your point is what exactly .

You're comparing two monitors people don't cross shop that's not even remotely in the same category. What is so hard to understand?

Great monitor; my M1 Macbook Air does 144hz over just the one Thunderbolt cable, and my work HP does 144hz over a USB-C to DP cable.

Keep in mind, it won't do G-SYNC over the Thunderbolt cable; from what I understand, only Displayport.
