Hi,

I've been using this monitor for a mixed use home office / xbox series x and I find it awesome. I'm getting a second one for a dual screen set up as it's VESA compatible.

It has 2 hdmi and 1 display port so I leave all the devices plugged in and just switch using the screen controls.

According to ccc, price is usually between $300-350 and just dropped to $247.7 today.

Update: Newegg also offer a similar pricing https://www.newegg.com/lg-27ul500...6824025944 > $249.99

I don't understand... Why would anyone ever want a lower pixel density? You can always scale as needed.

Anyways, my only complaint of this monitor (and ones of similar design) is that the ports point straight back instead of downwards or sideways. This design makes it a little more difficult to have monitors on desks that are against a wall and increases the chance of breaking a port if a cable ever gets snagged or pushed against something.

I have 27 4k and you have to scale everything to make it readable, makes my work laptop run hotter and more difficult to share my screen, and doesn't really provide me benefits outside of gaming.

You should look into pixel density. When you scale a 4K to 150% you're now going to get a major jump in how text and images display in sharp details. The sharpness is based on using much higher dpi capable monitor for the same image size.

Feel like to make full use of 4k, I'd like to have a 32-inch or above.
The purpose of going 4k isn't really to gain more screen real estate. Rather, the increased pixel density improves the quality of what you're looking at. Scaled 150-200% (1440p -1080p) text is much sharper and smoother and arguably better for your eyes.

If you want to run 4k natively, most people will need something much larger than 32" without it causing eye strain or sitting a foot away.

I understand pixel density. It makes a big difference on phones, Iove high resolution phones. But on a 27 inch monitor the 4k just doesn't do much imo. I only share my opinion because someone said why would anyone want a lower dpi and I shared my reasoning

I understand. Also sitting distance is a major factor. Phones pop out due to the close distance we hold them. (Why they need to be 4x/5x higher in dpi)

Only issue is the stand. SO be careful if you don't plan to use the vesa mount.

I think that they are referring to this deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/15968725-dell-s2721qs-27-inch-4k-uhd-3840-x-2160-ips-ultra-thin-bezel-monitor-amd-freesync-hdmi-displayport-vesa-certified-silver-259-99-f-s-amazon?v=1

The dell seems like a better deal to me. It has a more color accurate, brighter screen and the stand is much better.

Some people say they actually use 32" 4k unscaled. They must have really good eyesight.

Literally daily drive LG 27" 4K displays at native, no scaling. I sit back far enough where I can't reach out and touch the screens. This puts them about 30" away from my eyes. Every work day for about 3 years now.

That said for home office use, I agree. 32" 4K makes for a versatile productivity, gaming, streaming display.

Best Buy model for $299 is better
USB-C Power 96 watts
USB Hub
400 nits vs 300
1000 contrast ratio vs 700
HDR400 vs HDR10.

I think it is worth the $50 updgrade.

Exactly. Much more brighter and it's very important for IPS monitor, for daily coding and editing work.

I think it would depend on how neurotic you are. They will probably both look pretty good. I have this monitor and love it.

I use a 5k iMac right next to a 27" 1440p monitor that I connect to my PC and work laptop, and my work laptops have had Apple "Retina" displays for the last decade. I also briefly used a few 4k monitors before ending up back on my 1440p monitor. Lower DPI definitely doesn't look as good, and its easy to see the difference for me, but I don't have any issues going back and forth between monitors of different DPI (except I am picky about what I watch TV / movies on -- needs to have good contrast / colors). But YMMV.
