The 680M does NOT outperform the 3050 for gaming.

AMD-Radeon-680M-GPU-Benchmarks-and-Specs [notebookcheck.net]

NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3050-Laptop-GPU-Benchmarks-and-Specs [notebookcheck.net]

I think what's being expressed is that the 680M is capable of handling "light gaming" on its own and some may prefer to forego the extra power, heat and bulk of adding discrete video to a slim & light laptop because of this.

A note for anyone considering this laptop and for whom the keyboard experience is a factor: I played around with this model at my local Costco and while the specs were pretty much exactly what I was looking for in a laptop, the key travel on the keyboard was shallow enough for me to reconsider picking up the model. Looking online I found one Australian website that claimed the keys have a 1.3 mm travel. Even when compared to an older MacBook Air, the key travel on my MBA felt much better for typing than the keyboard on the Levovo Slim unfortunately, for me at least.

If the keyboard is of any factor for you in making a decision, you may want to find one and try it out before deciding.

It's a shame because specs wise this laptop has everything I was looking for in a laptop

This doesn't even need the 3050 for light gaming. The 680M on 6900HS is even better than the 680M on 6800U

Is this really true? Just the bump in the CPU is enough for the 680M to outperform the 3050 ?

Looks like a nice deal. I am a little concerned that a Ryzen 9 and a 3050 in a 14" thin and light would get pretty hot and thermal throttle a lot.

The battery life should be decent.

Is there a way to get 4K HDMI from this machine (preferably the USB C port)? My monitor supports it and HDMI is all it has.

would it be the usb4 which this model doesn't have, doesn't support, but has and lenovo/amd crippled it?

i also want to use my 4k monitor but its only 2k if i want 60hz so i use it in 2k/60. I want to try this laptop but don't have usb-c to hdmi adapter.

4K60 is easy if your adapter supports it. USB 3.2 Can push 4K @ 120hz if the devices on both ends support DSC (including your USB adapter if you are using one) and you are ONLY connecting video on that cable. (no other usb data on that cable - even to a hub that is not being used). It's a pain in the ass but technically possible. USB 4 would be so much better.

My holdups exactly. I really want USB4 or I'd have bought this at $1600.

BT 5.2 includes support for LE Audio transmission (Low Energy, could mean better battery life on the headset side) and LC3 audio codec so you won't sound like shit on calls with bluetooth headsets that don't support APT-X. I haven't seen a single device on the market with LC3, yet, but I want to future proof for that because I hate having extra dongles for RF wireless headphones so that my coworkers can understand me easily.

So there are rumors (nothing official) about a future BIOS update for this device enabling USB4. Take that with a huge grain of salt, because even if that is the intention it's entirely possible that plans could change before it becomes official. But from everything I can see, there's no reason why it shouldn't support it.

Most likely intentionally crippled.
