The 680M does NOT outperform the 3050 for gaming.

AMD-Radeon-680M-GPU-Benchmarks-and-Specs [notebookcheck.net]

NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3050-Laptop-GPU-Benchmarks-and-Specs [notebookcheck.net]

I think what's being expressed is that the 680M is capable of handling "light gaming" on its own and some may prefer to forego the extra power, heat and bulk of adding discrete video to a slim & light laptop because of this.

A note for anyone considering this laptop and for whom the keyboard experience is a factor: I played around with this model at my local Costco and while the specs were pretty much exactly what I was looking for in a laptop, the key travel on the keyboard was shallow enough for me to reconsider picking up the model. Looking online I found one Australian website that claimed the keys have a 1.3 mm travel. Even when compared to an older MacBook Air, the key travel on my MBA felt much better for typing than the keyboard on the Levovo Slim unfortunately, for me at least.

If the keyboard is of any factor for you in making a decision, you may want to find one and try it out before deciding.

It's a shame because specs wise this laptop has everything I was looking for in a laptop

This doesn't even need the 3050 for light gaming. The 680M on 6900HS is even better than the 680M on 6800U

Looks like a nice deal. I am a little concerned that a Ryzen 9 and a 3050 in a 14" thin and light would get pretty hot and thermal throttle a lot.

The battery life should be decent.
I agree. 14" should go with u series

I tried this laptop for a week and returned it for the following reasons:
- It's light but not has light as other laptops of the same size
- No USB4 support so I couldn't daisy chain two monitors via thunderbolt ports
- No fingerprint reader
- No pen support
- I don't see the point of having an RTX 3050 in a small laptop limited to less than 100W TDP.
- And the laptop actually died (probably just bad luck)

Now I'm waiting for Lenovo to ship me a ThinkBook 13s with a 6800u.

My ideal scenario is to have a high end laptop at home that I can access remotely from the Lenovo 13s if I need to process any heavy workload

I'm waiting for the Thinkbook 13s as well. This laptop (the Slim Pro X) has some nice features and clearly is designed to be a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none type laptop, but the lack of USB4, no HDMI, and no SD card slot made me hold off on it. Ideally, this laptop would have those features plus some high quality speakers in which case it would basically be a Windows version of an M1 MBP 14". Maybe that's what Lenovo plans for 2023. If they add those features and maybe increase the battery capacity to 80whr, this thing could be a MBP killer.

Interestingly, all the Youtube reviews of this laptop say that the keyboard is quite good. It clearly won't be Thinkpad quality in the keyboard department, though.

I also saw a few YouTube reviews and none of them mentioned the keyboard as lacking. Real life use was different for my preference

How does Costco price adjustment work? Could I order it now and ask for the price adjustment during the sale?

If I recall correctly, you can price match Costco lower prices within 30 days of purchase. If it is more than 30 days and less than 90, then you could return and purchase again.

Looks like deals dead. But wondering the max amount of monitors you can run on this (or legion 7 slim). 1080 is fine and would probably just be portable monitors.

(For work not play)

Have gotten mixed answers from the usual pc sources.

Thx!

Can you do a quick comparison when you get the 13s?

I think the deal starts on 8/15 judging by another comment!

The two laptops aren't really that comparable. The 13s is a productivity laptop with a small 13" screen that is fine for daily tasks but not great for any kind of creative work or gaming. However, because it has AMD's latest generation of cpu, it can actually handle gaming at low settings, so you can game on the go in a pinch. Will it be enjoyable? Depends on what you're expectations are on graphics quality. The Slim Pro X is bigger, heavier but still pretty portable and it has a mid-grade dedicated GPU that can probably allow you to game at medium settings.

If you could have only one machine, the Slim Pro X probably is a better choice. But if you can afford to have both a thin and light laptop to take on the go AS WELL AS a desktop or powerful gaming laptop (the desktop replacement kind), then get a 13s.

I would seriously be interested in hearing about any approximately 15" laptop with Ryzen 9 and a dedicated GPU that are lighter than this. My theoretical limit is 3 lbs but with all of this I can definitely see lugging around an extra 3 ounces. The absence of HDMI is a bit of a pain but that just means lugging a usb C to hdmi converter around and probably is required to keep the thin profile.
