Am hoping they make either a bigger unit, or add an extra battery so I can charge one and use the other.

Maybe they should rephrase it -solar generator. No solar included.
If we are trying to get pedantic, the "generator" part of a diesel generator is doing the same thing as this unit here. Take in some kind of energy and convert it to a more useful kind of energy. For traditional gens, that is rotational energy into mains AC. For these solar gens, it is low voltage DC into mains AC. This comment chain happens on every "solar generator" deal posted and at the end of the day, the manufacturers gave them that label and not slickdeals users.
I have also left this thing in the truck with windows shut on super hot days and fans kick on and keeps working. It's just a nice rugged battery "generator" lol.
A dedicated UPS has a minimum 18ms response time.
(someone else covered this in detail in the thread / post that the mods deleted)
It's definitely a situation of YMMV, using this, or any battery of this type as a dedicated UPS.

It was also said that this unit in particular would get hung up between a state of charge and discharge, causing it to overheat and shut off, while being plugged in ac full time, thereby negating it's use as a full time UPS.
Sad that the mods deleted that post / topic because there were a lot of technical comments in the thread.
A few actually tested this model as a UPS and posted their results and brief explanations as to why these designs are not worthy of being a UPS, mostly because of what you stated and their posted problems.
