Unless you are willing to pay more for Anker brand, I would do some comparison shopping. These ~300wh units with standard lithium cells are usually in the 120-170 dollar range as a regular non-sale price. Around $200 you get into LiFePo4 batteries which are way more durable in terms of charge cycles.
Bluetti EB3A is currently $240 but routinely goes down around $200. It recharges in 1 hour instead of 3, it comes with LiFePo4 batteries (They last longer than Li-Ion), and it can be used as a UPS.
I almost jumped on that Bluetti deal for $200 but after reading about all the problems folks were having, (new item) decided to wait for a 2nd gen or at least give it 6 more months for them to work out the bugs.
Am hoping they make either a bigger unit, or add an extra battery so I can charge one and use the other.

Maybe they should rephrase it -solar generator. No solar included.
Do you know what a Diesel generator without a gas tank or fuel system is? A motor. If I towed my vehicle to a shop and asked them to swap in a new generator they would look at me like I'm an alien. A solar generator without the solar is a battery. That's it.

If we are trying to get pedantic, the "generator" part of a diesel generator is doing the same thing as this unit here. Take in some kind of energy and convert it to a more useful kind of energy. For traditional gens, that is rotational energy into mains AC. For these solar gens, it is low voltage DC into mains AC. This comment chain happens on every "solar generator" deal posted and at the end of the day, the manufacturers gave them that label and not slickdeals users.

I don't really understand the sudden fascination with LiFePo4 battery chemistry as if it's a new thing. LiOn, LiPo, and LiFePo4 chemistries have been around for more than 10 years and widely used in RC hobbies. Can someone explain?

I have had the 300w version for about a year and half. No complaints. Charges phones, runs my camping fridge, runs my air pump, and keeps work laptop running when I'm off grid. Great for camping and heated blankets at the kiddos sports games.

I have also left this thing in the truck with windows shut on super hot days and fans kick on and keeps working. It's just a nice rugged battery "generator" lol.

Where do you see info about UPS function? Don't see anything on thier site, I'm guessing it's the basic can stay plugged into shore with passthrough?
You can find the specifics online but it's an "up to" 30ms, as in a best case scenario.
A dedicated UPS has a minimum 18ms response time.
(someone else covered this in detail in the thread / post that the mods deleted)
It's definitely a situation of YMMV, using this, or any battery of this type as a dedicated UPS.

I'm no expert on this subject, from reading recent Slickdeals posts on it, apparently LiFePo4 while not a new technology is pretty new to being used in these backup battery/generator units--better in that it is safer/less volatile and has much more recharge cycle life, disadvantages are heavier weight and higher cost.

Another thing to keep in mind when using these units, though not necessarily this particular model, is they might not perform cell balancing charges when used as an UPS and also potentially over-chage, in which case they need to be drained and charged while not in UPS mode periodically. It'd be a good idea to check manufacturer's info and warnings regarding use of their unit in UPS mode.

This is good info, and in the now deleted post, there were a few who said the above is true of this unit also.
It was also said that this unit in particular would get hung up between a state of charge and discharge, causing it to overheat and shut off, while being plugged in ac full time, thereby negating it's use as a full time UPS.

Sad that the mods deleted that post / topic because there were a lot of technical comments in the thread.
A few actually tested this model as a UPS and posted their results and brief explanations as to why these designs are not worthy of being a UPS, mostly because of what you stated and their posted problems.

No. Or, if it did, maybe 15 minutes?

A 300w heater. For about 45 minutes Basically a really tiny heater. You could just hook up a few flourescent bulbs and get similar results LOL.

I'm willing to pay a few dollars more when it comes to my devices for the warranty and quality control alone its worth it for something like this
