Tips
1) For this promotion, BB and Samsung allows you to purchase S21 FE, S22 series, etc. even if your trade-in is worth more than the new phone. You get the difference in the BB GC.
2) That said, since this is in person only, your store or the employee may required your purchase be more than your trade-in. It's easier to go to a new store or revisit on a different day than argue with the employee.
3) For my store, the employee teaching the other employee this promotion flat out said just give the difference via BB GC. You lose any difference from the $500 Samsung coupon, which is $1 if you buy the S21 FE.
4) The process as I experienced was:
a) Log in to customers BB / carrier account
b) Trade-in the phone first, entering promotion code "SAMSUNG" on the last page
c) Their system will fill up a BB GC with the regular trade-in amount + print out a $500 Samsung coupon which totals the promotional trade-in amount. The trade-in receipt states "Promotion: Unlocked Samsung Flagship - $800 Tier ($300 GC + $500 Coupon)
d) Check out the new phone, activated to your new carrier (*activated meaning checking out and giving you a sim card, phone isn't activated nor opened)
e) Scan the $500 Samsung coupon as the first payment, scan the BB gift card for any remaining charges.

My customer service rep had trouble figuring out how to do the trade-in, but he seemed new. There was a Samsung employee who were familiar with the best buy system and she did almost all the work.
I went to the 3rd store on Aug 9th, 2 hours before it closed. This store had 5 people at mobile station, one of them was the manager. She does EVERY phone related transaction in the store, The other 4 serve as greeters and inventory checkers. No joke - the person in front of me went to buy a pre-paid phone and they had to get the manager to process that. Trade in - wait for the manager. Buying phone (even unlock activate later) - wait for the manager. Prepaid phone check out - wait for the manager. Pre-paid phone card - wait for the manager. I would love to get the position as one of the drones there (not managerial position!). The store is never busy based on all the times I came. The mobile staffs always hang around laughing and chilling unless you have a question about the phones on display. Everything else they just say "Wait for the manager".
Anyway, she tried doing an upgrade for me but told me the system only gave her the option to sell to me as Unlocked - activate later. She doesn't know how to do the activate now for phone purchases. Told me if I have a carrier, have to purchase with carrier branded so can't use coupon. I didn't want to lose the $600 coupon so I paid an extra $100+tax for the unlock activate later version. Kindda miffed about this actually.
Moral of the story - if you have time and the person helping you doesn't know how to work the system, go around until you find someone who does. I couldn't really do that because the phone I wanted was out of stock when I finally able to find someone who knew how to do bonus trade in with sammy. I was told to hold on to the coupon until the phone comes back in stock but before the coupon expired. Phone came back in stock but I couldn't go to the store because I had to quarantine and take care of family members who had covid-19 on/off for 3 weeks
At this point, i'm just ranting my frustration now
If anyone has a different experience, let me know but this does make sense. He said normal trade in value is $145 (matches website) and elevated trade is $225 towards S22+.
I showed the rep and he called a supervisor or some senior person as well and they said I had to either pay full price $1000 today or hand over my tradein device for the $800 credit to be applied.
I even showed them the website saying they need to evaluate it now and I need to trade in the same device for the credit when the order is fulfilled.
I guess s21 fe is not elegible for this promotion as advertised
