I'll be honest. I saw the picture and thought this was something else entirely. Thankfully I was wrong.

The starting prices seem very expensive. So much so that the 20% probably doesn't do enough to call this a deal

Check BladeHQ on pricing, as I just looked at the 535-3 and it ended up being about $20 cheaper there.

The 535BK-4 has my interest, I have a dozen Kershaw's, are these worth the extra 200$?
I'd say not anymore.

I have a couple of both. Yes benchmade are better made but they no longer have the blade replacement warranty and they dont send you parts for at home
repair anymore.

That on top of poor centering in recent years.. i would say just stick with kershaw

Benchmade still replaces worn out blades, just not abused blades unless you give them a worthy story.

I've bought 2 knives shipped directly from them recently and do not see any issue with centering. Could it be some of the resellers sell returned items? People may tinkering with the screws when changing the handle?

Depends on you, honestly. I used to buy Kershaws but I'd have to replace them often. I finally bought a benchmade when I was on a salt water fishing trip when my friends benchmade held up and my kershaw was rusted before the end of the trip. I still love kershaws to beat on but the better steel and superior lock system is worth it to me.

Check knife/blade forums, consensus and evidence shows Benchmade quality isn't what it used to be.

Nope, the blade replacement used to be $30 to replace, now the warranty replacement is a percentage of the overall knife MSRP.

So a 940 used to be $30 but its $90 to replace a blade on now. Which is about half the cost of the knife.

Well, why do I have to hear others saying when I can see from my own eyes? Wink

Wow! Glad to know that! Hopefully I don't need blade replacement service. :p

enjoy your knives, someone asked if they were worth the extra cost, I gave a reason why they aren't.

Not everything is about you.

I see. But you've replied to my thread so I thought you want to talk to me. Didn't know that you're talking to others and not me. Big Grin
