Fantastic deal! Even if you buy all the components used / refurbished the total would be more than $550.

I have this exact setup at home, plus the non-adjustable speaker stands from Costco. Movies sound absolutely FANTASTIC. Highly recommeneded.

By the way, skip the sub from Sonos. I purchased a Connect:Amp (model ZP120) from eBay for $120, added an inexpensive Infinity subwoofer and increased bass is great.

(side note: to add the sub this way you need to 'Group' together the Beam+Surround and Connect:Amp in the Sonos app)

Then Gen 1 Beam and Play:1 are both discontinued (but still supported) products.

It's a good price, but I don't think it's "way too low" for clearing out some older, discontinued models.

Do these speakers have to be used as rear speakers, or could I put them on the shelves in each side of my tv as front side speakers?

Do you use the S1 app? Sonos site says Connect Amp doesn't work with S2.
The old AMP does not connect with the S2 app. It still works under the S1 app. I too have the old amp. They can be had for cheap but rated 50W RMS. The new Sonos amp is rated for 200W RMS.

The Sonos Beam 1 with the Play 1 luckily works on both S1 and S2 app. I honestly do not recommend buying any of the older device that is only S1 compatible.

Hmm, I want the beam 2 + one's setup, but at this price its tempting.
The Sonos Beam 2 is the same speaker setup inside. The only real significant change is the exterior grille and inclusion of Dolby Atmos. The Dolby Atmos is not true Atmos, it's simulated as they did not change the speaker setup to have upward firing like the Sonos Arc. I have not tested the Beam 2 but I have the Beam 1 and Sonos Arc.

I would say at this price ($450), get this. You would be spending $750 on a similar setup with the Beam 2 and (2)SL for the rears. At that point I would recommend the Arc ($800). The Arc is way superior than the Beam even with the rear surrounds.

If someone is looking at the Ray vs Beam 1, hands down the Beam 1.

The Play 1 (One and SL) can be used as individual speakers or paired with the Beam, Ray, or Arc for surround sound, but they cannot function as front speakers when paired. I wish Sonos offer that capabilities as I would love to have the Play 5 as fronts and the Beam as center channel with Play 1's in the rear. With that setup you won't need a sub and probably sound better than the Arc minus Atmos.

Not really a random website. They are owned by a company called DISH Network, which in the United States is a pretty big wireless network provider.

Yes this method of using a third-party sub works nicely. FYI you don't need an Amp to do it. You can go with the "Connect" (instead of Connect Amp), or "Port." The Connect and Port are less expensive than the Amp models. They have RCA audio outputs, that work perfectly with a Sub. You can only use a "Connect" if you are using S1 app. If you are using S2 app you have to go with a "Port".

As someone else posted, there's a hack to use a Sonos 1 or IKEA speaker work for feeding a subwoofer (the sub has to have speaker level input).
