I've noticed it's not just target, but grocery stores, and many other stores are constantly running big promotions like this. This is essentially the third week in a row for target doing big gift cards on household goods (15 on 50, then $10 on 40, now $15 on 50 again)

My theory is because everything is going up in price, big chain stores are eating the bullet with gift cards or buy 1 get 1 frees to get people accustomed to the new higher prices on everything and then when they feel people are accustomed, will slowly roll back/reduce the promotions

I think my theory is most easily view with bacon. Which would regularly cost 5.99 a pound, less on sale, 8.99 would be the "fancy" bacon. But now every week for the last 4-5 weeks bacon is b1g1 but the bacon costs 9.99+ Per package. So while it might cost $5/pound with the non stop promos in our heads we think "oh I buy 2 it's only 5" then when we do that enough, well get accustomed to seeing and equating to the "regular price of 9.99+" when bacon goes "on sale" for 8.99 or 7.99 a pound we will think it's a deal and accept the inflated prices.

Promotions like this was very common before covid at target or other retailers. They are just back to the normal marketing scheme but getting less items.

Have not shopped at Target for awhile. Anyone knows the dollar rule of such promotion? Like $50+ may still work if I just spend $49.98 even if it's just a few cents short.

In my experience you have to meet the minimums on these things. For sure if you shop online. But you could always get a cheap filler item like a dish scrubbing pad or a small box of sandwich bags. WORD OF ADVICE if you shop in store, make sure the price on the shelf is the same at checkout. When they did 10 off 40 I got charged more at checkout. Customer service was helpful fixing it though.

Crazy how inflation is getting to people. Huggies diaper at Costco used to be $44 and now it is $54 something.
