I asked a more experienced camper what's the difference between this and a Coleman. It's not just the BTU's, take a look at the burner. The Camp Chef has a ring around it that direct the flames up and protects it from the wind. If you look at the Coleman the burner is a basic design where you'll be losing a lot of heat.

I don't plan on using the 1lb tank, buying an adapter hose for 5 or 20lb tank depending on how long my trip is.

I've had this stove for years, its wonderful. My one tip is start the burners much lower than you would on your home stove, this thing can rip.

What kind of pots and pans does everyone use on these?
I've used aluminum, titanium, and regular kitchen pots/pans. The 20,000 BTU is also great for using my carbon steel wok. You do have to fold down the cover for a 14 inch wok to fit on the burner.

The Coleman's are on clear out at sams for 30 right now about 10k per burner.

this stove seems nicer but even the 10k burners boil pretty fast unless you have a 16qt pot.
also
This will frost a small propane tank really fast.

40k btu out of a 1lb is absurd.
I have used the same model for over 5 years. If you have both burners on, the one on the left does not get as hot as the one on the right tends to get the majority of the fuel. On a 3 day trip to Joshua Tree, I typically use 2 one lb cylinders to cook breakfast and dinner over the 3 days. If you're worried about running out, you can always buy an adaptor to attach to a larger cylinder.

The Camp Chef Everest is more durable, has better wind protection, and has a higher BTU output 22,000 vs the 12,000 of the Coleman. The Camp Chef's burners are designed to direct heat up and protect it from the wind. During cold windy weather, the Camp Chef stove was much better at cooking than the Coleman stoves. If you plan on camping out only in good weather, the Coleman would be fine. But if you camp out also in the winter, the Camp Chef is a much better stove. My friends with the Coleman stoves were not happy during winter camping.

How does this compare to the basic Coleman stove? Should I upgrade?
I have the top of the line Coleman Gladiator Series FyreChampion that I paid way more for and this is such a better stove. Not only does it have a higher BTU, but the simmer control is excellent which the Coleman was terrible at. I haven't used it in windy weather but judging by its design, I'm pretty sure the Camp Chef will be better. This thing gets hot. I use it with a 5lb propane tank. This would go through those green bottles pretty quickly.

BTW i got mine today and if numbers matters to you this version is 2500 BTU each, Total Output: 50,000 BTUs/Hr.

Wonder if they're clearing out for a model refresh, camp chef is selling for $99 on their site

I got mine a few days ago, and hey, you're right! I found a picture of the box from older reviewers and those definitely say 20,000 BTU. Same model #, but apparently a bit of an upgrade.

Got this hooked up to a propane tank.

Use it outside when I need to fry or just cook out doors.

Paired with my pellet grill...I can't be stopped!

Bought it warehouse deal for $120 6 mos ago, so brand new...this is a DEAL!

Just want to clarify, so the current model on sale is 25,000 btu and not 20,000 btu as advertised? Thanks

I think it's because they recently released the Everest 2x model which is a slight upgrade over this.

Got in on this deal a few days ago. First stove came and the left side wind-stop would not align with the lid/back to lock in. The tab welded on the the lid was 1/2" too high and made it impossible to align and lock in the side.
Amazon would not allow for a refund-replacement, so had to do a regular return and re-order a second unit. Should be delivered today.

Chatted with Amazon customer service and just asked if the difference could be refunded instead of me returning the other and buying it at this price. I think I got like 10.23 back and it took about two minutes.
Just tried this. Was told to kick rocks!! ...or return and rebuy.

I had the exact same issue, although mine is only 1/4" or so off so I'm able to flex it in. A little annoying but I'll roll with it

or do we think it's due to rough shipping ?
