    After owning several Ego tools for many years, Im reconsidering them as a go to tool brand. The reason being is battery life and prices. I have four Ego tools and now only one battery that is still working. From a cost perspective, buying a different brand that charges far less for batteries, and tool, is worth considering. ie SD Walmart cordless mower on clearance recently for only a $130 with 6ah charger. Easy returns and 5 year tool and 3 year battery warranty, same as Ego.

    They do charge arm and a leg for their batteries.

    I want to switch to electric and have ego leaf blower and trimmer but my Honda mower is so good that I feel like I will regret switching to ego.

    Same here...I have an Ego mower currently but the battery is on its last legs and the replacement battery costs are high. I really like the convenience of cordless but am having trouble finding a mower powerful enough with reasonable battery prices. Stihl is the closest I have found. Unfortunately might be getting a Honda gas mower...

    You are not alone, lot of people have switched back to Honda just because of these reasons…battery costs has to come down to make it good replacement

    The replacement battery for this costs $350. Might as well buy a new mower almost...

    old model with a single blade (not "Select Cut" double blade which many reviewers considered basically mandatory for longer grass) and no "Touch Drive" for its self propelling function.

    How did you guys with battery probs care for your batteries? Just curious....

    The stories I know about locally (my sister, one uncle, a neighbor. etc) were folks that left their batteries in their mowers in a hot garage, an outdoor winter storage shed, etc. If you read the forums, you'll see that its recommend to take the batteries out and store the batteries inside.

    I always keep mine inside and never overcharge it. As soon as it's done I take it off the charger. Still it's almost dead right at 39 months - 3 months after the warranty expired!

    A couple of years ago, I bought a Refurbed Ego self propelled mower at Home Depot. I tried it for 2~3 weeks then returned it... It had too many flags left after cutting the lawn. Ego customer service only suggested that I cut the lawn twice to stop this problem. I went back to my Honda. Ego mowers are not ready for prime time. JMHO. I also don't like the Ego weed eater (Too long, too heavy, works poorly for edging or cleaning out weeds in concrete expansion slots etc,) However, the Ego edger is great, as is the hedge trimmer, The Leaf blowers are also top quality tools.
