With a jacket like this, the pricing is based on the fact that it's really warm for how light it is and it can be packed down to stow away while hiking, say if you started hiking on a cold morning then it warmed up during your hike.

I normally don't chime in on stuff, but wanted to say that I bought this at 100$ and was satisfied with the warmth (it actually runs a bit warm often in low 60, high 50 weather). Only thing I wish was that there was a hood!

Unfortunately, they only have a women's version with a hood available at this time. The product linked is for a wind breaker with the same name of "flash". Definitely confusing. The insulated flash is different. Here's the women's with hood:

Yes. If you're hoping to get away with just a t shirt under this, it's not gonna do the trick. But with a hoodie or any long sleeves beyond just a thin dress shirt, you'll be fine. Bought this on clearance a few years ago and I've been very happy with it, even in sub-freezing temps.

Just picked it up. Very lightweight and zipper's kind of weak. Definitely not going to pay 150 but for 50 i will try it out.

I have a micro puff down jacket from Eddie Bauer that serves me for most of the winter, just want to get super Duper cold I pull up my big Parka

I suspect this would get you through anything but the coldest days, but your mileage may vary

Tried this on in store today. Sizing was not great for me. I'm about 6"2, 210 lbs and the Large and extra large were both a no go. The large was too short, it came up above my belt line, and the sleeves were too long. They covered my entire hand. Extra Large therefore was way too long in the sleeves. It's too bad because if felt high quality for the price.
