Agreed. It's like the new owners have never heard of this thing called HBO. Ads? C'mon. Can you imagine watching
the Sopranos or GOT or Westworld with ads right in the middle? Gross
The ads plan was first offered by the 'old owners' in June 2021 (well before the Discovery merger). There are no ads during HBO shows like the ones you listed.

It was $7.99/month for 1 year with no ads a while back. Now It sucks that they're doing this, you pay to watch contents and ads…
I mean...with this promotion now it's only $8.75 a month so if you actually like HBO and extra 75 cents a month isn't going to break anyone's bank

Worth it with Amex $25 offer?
Amex deal is 25 off 99+, with Ads will not be eligible. Should go for Ad-free. urlhasbeenblocked offers $16 cash back on top.

HBO seems to be rapidly eating itself as part of the WB reorg, not sure if commit with how it's going at the moment. Not enough content and can't even trust it to stay there now.

I have the half off deal, and I am honestly having a hard time justifying that. I haven't watched anything on HBO/MAX for a couple of months.
Sorry to say but either you don't like good movies and great tv shows or you are just trolling. I can understand if someone tells me Netflix, Peacock, Disney+ or Paramount +, but HBO Max? Really?

House of the Dragon [hbo.com] is releasing on Sunday for those who liked GOT (even though it ended horribly).
I'd pay $20 for 2 months instead of spending $105+tax for a year

HBO had good content, but it has gone downhill steadily over the years. Who hasn't seen The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood or GOT. Mare of Eastown was great but that was a year ago and it appears there will be no second season. Six Feet Under ended in 2005, another great show. I tried watching the Paul Newman Documentary and my eyes glazed over.

My half off deal ends Sept 17. Hopefully I'll be able to sign up then with the $25 off Amex offer.
You'll be better off canceling before the 15th and getting the Amex deal before it expires. Or creating a new HBO account.

My son likes: Sesame Street Mecha Builders and I've been enjoying the Not too Late show with Elmo. They have all of Sesame Street too. Esme and Roy is good too.

My HBO subscription also cancels on 9/17. However, when cancelling online it is still active until 9/17. This means I can not get in on the Amex deal since that ends 9/15. Instead, on 9/15, I will sign up under my wife's name.
