I have the half off deal, and I am honestly having a hard time justifying that. I haven't watched anything on HBO/MAX for a couple of months.

Renewed my cancelled subscription:
$104 annual NO ads
Less: $25 amex offer
Less: Cash Back site $16
= about $5.00 per month
I have a cancelled subscription (last used via DirecTV), Do you have to use a different email to sign up to get the $16 since it says only for 'Cash Back can only be earned on the initial subscription' in the fine print. I would like to use the same email/account.

HBO had good content, but it has gone downhill steadily over the years. Who hasn't seen The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood or GOT. Mare of Eastown was great but that was a year ago and it appears there will be no second season. Six Feet Under ended in 2005, another great show. I tried watching the Paul Newman Documentary and my eyes glazed over.
I am not saying the shows you mentioned were not great. "The Wire" and "Six Feet Under" are in my top ten list of best shows ever. However, there are really good shows and very good shows. Maybe you are just too nostalgic, Wink "Barry" is one of the best comedies of the last years, "Chernobyl" is in my opinion the best mini series of the decade. Then you have excellent shows with amazing acting like "White Lotus", "Hacks", "Irma Very", and the you have jewels and underrated shows (in terms of people talking about it) like "The Rehearsal", "Insecure" etc.
And I left documentaries because that goes more with personal topic and interests, but there are amazing documentaries every year.

Yes, pass years were maybe better but that doesn't mean they don't have good quality tv now. In my personal opinion HBO Max, Hulu and Apple TV are the only streaming services that are trying to give you a variety of good quality tv.

Not worth it anymore. "discovery" is trashing HBO for corporate profits. They are canceling a lot of the shows and new shows will be trash cheap to produce "reality TV". I ain't signed up with HBO to watch real housewives.

Been with Netflix, since the beginning. Their original content, movie wise is a joke. They appear to have contracts with a certain group of actors, who produce and act in their movies, which leads to bad movies.
Agree. Some of their ideas are great but ruined by shit actors. Other ideas are so bad that i wonder who is in charge and spending for them. We live in a time of great stories, execution and good actors not necessarily celebrity appeal (barring one offs) but that doesn't mean casting anyone who looks young will work.

My point was that you don't have to subscribe to the plan with ads in order to get in on the discount.

My annual sub is up Sept. 17th. I wonder if we cancel and let our subs completely end would it let us resubscribe and get the discount without using a new email/account?

Euphoria is a horrible show. Teaching kids to literally be promiscuous, prostitution, and even selling sex online. Way to go

Cashback sites have $16~$19. That is why it's a better deal than Cap1.

From the other Cap1 thread I posted:
1. Sign up for Capital One deal. Make $7.
2. Sign up by 9/15 for 1 year $105 no-ad plan.
Amex Offer has $25 cashback. Cashback sites have $16 to $19 cashback. $61~$64 no-ad 1year.
