I was just looking at this online yesterday to see what HP's latest offering was. I have the 8th gen version of this (11th gen). Very happy with mine and would recommend the successor at this price. It looks like the glass, brightness and SSD has been upgraded, too. Bought mine a few years ago ($349-$369?) to replace my Toshiba Chromebook 2 (2015). The Toshiba was still going strong but it was reaching EOL.
Can this be used for gaming? (Roblox and fortnite)
Absolutely.
I switched to Chromebook years ago and have bought several iterations of this Chromebook and wholeheartedly recommended. Every time I buy I compare with whatever else is available at the time and this always wins out.
I purchased this exact model in November 2021 -- Slickdeals thread here. It was $450 back then, but Best Buy was offering open box options, which it doesn't appear to be doing now.
For that deal I got an open box for $291 + tax, which was a really great deal. The laptop appeared brand new, which they typically are from BB. It's a very nice Chromebook with very nice modern hardware. I ended up keeping my Acer Spin 713 since I prefer 3:2 screens, but gave the x360 to a family member who is happily using it.
You can see my thoughts on this model from last year here. Overall a reasonable deal at $400 if you are in need of something now.

I got the Asus C536 on a similar deal there same general specs It is very fast I use it daily and no problem with numerous open tabs.
I've had this Chromebook about 6 months. Powerful upgrade from my last Chromebook, albeit a bit of a tradeoff w/ battery life. Still beats the average Windows laptop's battery, but other Chromebooks can run circles around this. Great system for running Linux and setting up a backup coding environment.
On an unrelated note, in my experiences, HP has quality control issues, so definitely reach out to customer care ASAP if you experience unexpected technical issues. Don't wait until your warranty expires and they charge you to fix their mistakes

If it was a $30 difference, which one would you get?
