As a rule of thumb it's 4 cubic feet of freezer per 1/4..so..with half a cow.. A 7 cubic could work depending on how its packaged, it's gonna be tight though..

Buy it because it is inexpensive and might last a long time, but don't expect a great service experience from the manufacturer if it you have problems with it.

I bought one of these and it only lasted about 4 months and then quit cooling. Of course, it died when no one was home for the weekend and came back to a hot box full of wasted food. Contacted Walmart via chat, who told me to contact the manufacturer and gave us an email to use. Contacted the company and they said they don't support that model. Went back to Walmart, they said to contact the vendor again. Did that, and they told us they don't support that model again. Went to a Walmart store to talk to someone about it, they said that because it was more than 90 days there is nothing they could do about it. Got on chat again, and eventually had to have them call me and they offered a refund but I had to come up with packaging to sent it back (which I didn't have). Then I had to haul it to a Fedex location. I probably wasted more time running around to get it sent back than the freezer was worth.

Anyone know if deliverer will wait while I inspect for damage and reject on the spot if necessary? I think it would be too big to return to store with my little car.

Been shopping for a freezer lately. This is a great price. I don't see a energy star rating so it's hard to compare it to other units in that area.

UPS has (or used to have) an actual policy not to allow this - my driver knew me well, so if he suspected damage, he would look the other way while I gave the contents a quick look. FedEx - they don't even stop - they just throw the package and drive away (the reason why so many of these units are arriving damaged). Generally, no delivery person is going sit while you open anyway, never mind something the size of a freezer.

Manual defrost units are very quiet. Quieter than your refrigerator.

I received a dented one when I bought the 5cf version and they gave me a $50 refund from chat to keep it. Works fine and harder to see dents on black.
