S7: last year's model. Contains vacuum without base. Uses LiDAR but no camera to navigate
S7+: S7 with additional auto empty base
S7 MaxV: this year's model. Contains vacuum without base. Uses LiDAR and camera to navigate. More powerful than S7
S7 MaxV Plus: S7 MaxV with auto empty base
S7 MaxV Ultra: S7 MaxV with auto empty dirt and water base that can also clean the mop and refill the vacuum's water tank

Put F10SC diluted into the water and it will deal with all mold and crap to be concerned with. I use it to treat my humidifiers and dehumidifiers.

Damn this shit is expensive. Here I thought I was crazy for buying a SEBO E3 premium onyx version for $899 but at least it's crazy powerful and has a 10 year warranty. Though automating cleaning would be nice if sooner just put this money towards a cleaner.

I find the Roborock website confusing. If I want Vacuum function and auto empty doc, but no mopping function. Then I want the S7+, right?

I picked up the MaxV Ultra over prime day with the target 20% coupon. I've got medium pile carpet and was worried about the mop getting the carpet wet. If you really look for it, you'll notice the damp tips of the carpet. Otherwise it's a non issue. The bigger issue is the rubber spinning brush gets tangled into the carpet from time to time. I wish I could turn the brush off on the carpet.

The object avoidance isn't magic. It'll still try to roll over cat toys.

I've been using the mop solution they sell. The waste water is a little smelly, but I'm not worried about mold.

The dock definitely needs to be on a hard floor, per the instructions. I was hoping the large base meant I could keep the dock on the carpet, but the robot can't seem to backup to fill the water when on carpet.

Overall, pretty happy with it. I'm surprised how dirty the hard floors get day to day. Really makes you reconsider the 5 second rule Wink

Depends. S7 maxV plus is different than s7 plus. It has more suction power and camera for object avoidance. Both has mopping, just not auto mop cleaning

The Q5+ is vacuum only and auto empty if you truly don't care about mopping. s7+ has a mop function but comes with auto empty (dust/dirt only). q5+ costs less

I just did the same recently. Can it be returned if I ran it once since opening it? Or does roborock offer partial refunds like some stores do if a sale happens so soon after buying something?

Returning would save $300 since when I bought it all I had was a $10 coupon.
Can try to return the new item that will be delivered if the delivery (with this deal) happens with in the return window of the older expensive invoice. YMMV !!!

Is there anything "better" coming out in the next 6 months to compete with the S7 MaxV Ultra? Trying to decide if it's worth splurging on this now, or waiting for new tech.
I had the same question as well. It seems like we would start to see more competitors in this area within the next 6-12 months

No, all S7 versions have the mop feature. I believe the one you're looking for is the Q5+.

If your criteria is "better in 6-12 months" you'll always be waiting because there will always be something better that comes out within 6-12 months. There are already lots of competitors in this field so you're better off making your own metrics: good reviews for both mop and vacuum, price point, brand name you trust, etc. Stick with that instead of just waiting for the next better version if you're actually interested in grabbing one of these.

I've had the S4 for the last few years and it's worked very well. The S7 series is probably the first robot vacuum/mop combo that has solid reviews for the mop-side of the device so I'll be jumping on it soon. Under 400 is my price point so I'm crossing my fingers by Black Friday I'll be able to grab it. With a set of criteria it just works better than waiting for something "better" imo.

Thanks, OP. I've been on the fence about getting a Q5+. Gonna pull the trigger.

Any experts / experienced users who wants to chime in Roomba S9+ vs the S7 MaxV. I'd read articles about: LiDAR vs VSLAM, power, battery, separate mob vs all-in-one. Curious if there's anything else I'd missed. The Roomba bundle S9+ and M6 too is on sale at 1k, so I'm seriously debating between the 2.

I was looking into it as an upgrade for my i7+. A lot of people report that the S9 is problematic. I7 and S9 are basically the same hardware in a different box. Neither has object avoidance, which has been a major negative for me with my I7. I also found that it never had enough battery life to finish a single cleaning job, and would have to go back and recharge 2-3 times. I "upgraded" from a S4 MAX for the self-empty and aside from that it's been a major downgrade. Constantly bumps into stuff, doesn't clean as well in corners, and constantly gets stuck. The only thing I like more with the roomba is the unlimited number of keep out zones, last I checked Roborock limited you to a few. Might have changed. Either way, I'm grabbing this deal and putting my i7+ up for sale.

Their website says return for any reason for 30 days. If they don't give you a partial refund they are effectively losing money because you can just reorder and return the old one.
