Wow that's a price that's out of this world. No special features that come on the Blu-ray, but the Blu-ray doesn't come with a digital copy.

For those who don't know, this is one of the best tv remasters ever, and a fantastic show too. It's 4:3 in the proper original aspect ratio. I watch this from VUDU all the time and I've gotten my money's worth. This is a steal.
FYI: If anybody is willing to roll the dice on waiting a few days on this, there's a promotion going on involving General Mills cereals where you can get a $13 credit on Vudu (by purchasing 3 qualifying cereals) to apply towards this deal, which would take your out of pocket cost down even further.

I did it earlier this month and got the $13 in two business days. Deadline to purchase the cereals that qualify is TOMORROW (8/31). You can do the promotion TWICE. getting $26 in credits to apply to this. Most grocery stores have the qualifying cereals (10-12 Oz boxes) for $2 each on sale.

Details on the credit deal are in THIS thread:

To my knowledge no TV show works with MA.

I have chromecast with Google TV, and I use the Vudu app on it all the time.

You're mistaken if you ask me. No one thought Next Gen wouldn't get remastering. It's DS9 that no one thinks will ever get it. Next Gen was beyond popular back in the day. Hands down the highest rated trek , hell syndicated show in tv history.
The remastering has nothing to do with popularity, DS9 and Voyager will never get a 4K remaster because they don't have a high definition analog source like TNG did. Much of it is only stored in low-res digital copies with low-res digital effects, so its not like TNG where they could rescan the originals.

Don't agree. It's already been proven it could be done. And with good results.

interview from 2017 may cut closer to why DS9 and Voyager remain unrestored by Paramount. The site spoke to Robert Meyer Burnett who ā€” along with a technical explanation of the difficulty that might put most who aren't already invested in the field to sleep ā€” explains that when Star Trek: The Next Generation was restored to HD and released on Blu-ray between 2012 and 2014, Paramount's bottom line didn't fare well. With streaming services like Netflix booming, many fans were unwilling to shell out the extra money for physical copies when they could just watch the show on a streamer. Since neither DS9 nor Voyager were ever as big as TNG, Burnett says, there's little hope Paramount would be willing to grant them an HD restoration that proved unprofitable already.

If they priced them REASONABLY and/or included bonuses like digital copies redeemable on streaming sites like Vudu then more people would likely buy them.

But when a complete series set will set you back two bills and not include a digital/streaming copy as a bonus then that's ridiculous.

Physical media, when pressed in large enough quantities, costs pennies on the dollar to make. I understand they want to make a profit but their pricing is asinine.

Yeah I'd definitely prefer to buy this as physical media at this price (and then rip it to a Plex server). My problem with tv on Vudu is that it is a nightmare to rewatch. The service likes to leave each episode as 98% watched (at the credits, when the service skipped you ahead to the next episode) and there's no way to "start from the beginning" or mark episodes as unwatched. You end up spending minutes rewinding each episode, or selecting the first scene for each episode, which is farking awful for digital media or binge watching.

And as others have noted, if you cast Vudu content onto a Chromecast (as opposed to using the app on Chromecast) it ignores your binge watching settings and only plays one episode.

While not as cheap as the previous deal on it ($15) Highlander The Series is $25.99 with this sale.

Hopefully you already received the credits (purchase deadline for the $13 promo was 8/31) because this deal is listed as a deal of the week, so it may end soon.

DS9 is now on sale, but at $40 + tax for SD, I'm not biting. Was hoping to see it at $25.

I've been watching for a deal on DS9 for years across platforms, and the lowest I've seen was $29.99 on iTunes earlier this year. When Vudu gets to that price point, I'll bite.

Vudu is owned by Fandango which is owned by NBC and WB. It's not going out of business but they can sell the service and make it so bad that you'll quit watching.
Too late, I can't get anything to not buffer with them since it was sold to Fandango.

And I'm on fiber, and have zero issues streaming multiple 4K streams with any other service. When Walmart owned them, never had an issue, but definitely try it before making any major purchases.
