I disagree. 7 1/4 would be more than adequate for most homeowners.

You're not going to get very accurate miters with a skilsaw.

This size saw is great for making mitered cuts on door casings, window trims, brickmolds, standard baseboard, picture frames, quarter-round, small crown, etc. For refurbing houses and rentals, I rarely have the need to miter anything larger than this can handle.

Was hoping it was the 7-1/4 slider. This miter saw is good for 2x4s and some trim work, but not much else.

7 1/4" is rather small for a miter saw. At that size I'm really not sure what I'd be doing with it that wouldn't be done as easily or easier with a skilsaw.

That's what I use mine for. Had it for years and love it.

I do not think you can return it. You have to return both tools. This can not be hacked.

Thanks! I missed this deal last time! I just want something for cutting 2x4s etc cleaner and straighter than my circular saw and portable over my 10" corded. Would prefer sliding, but maybe I upgrade my saw at home and use this everywhere else.

I've only used this with my DeW@lt batteries, but it works on my leaf blower and sander, even with the 9Ah. This is the model number. It's $13 now and the cheapest I found, but buy whichever one is cheaper. You can get them on AliX. This way you don't have to carry around the Ryobi batteries and extra charger.

Got this set a few days ago. The saw is lighter and more portable than my sliding saw. I also have many batteries now after different deals.

I mean a speed square and a positive 45degree stop on any reliable circular saw will work in a pinch. I've trimmed out an entire basement (baseboards, doors and windows (jambs, extensions, etc.)) this way for a customer.

I'm assuming this is not the first generation. If so I would absolutely avoid. That was made not just for ryobi (the Craftsman C3 was the same exact build, but different shell) and it lacked power and the motors tended to burnout. It was nearly impossible to cut hardwood (even if frequently changing the blade to something better than stock) without "burning" through the cut.

I would only buy this if you don't feel confident using a circular saw with a speed square or similar guide and are only cutting pine 2x4"s or less, and or shoe molding, baseboards, door trim or other fingerjointed trim that is typically 9/16" - 3/4".

These 7-1/4" saws (I would go with sliding to have more versatility incase you need to cut a 1x6" or 1x8" in a pinch are great for cutting repeat miters and being cordless helps if you're only going to be on a site for a minute and don't want to setup extension cords.

My feelings is that a lot of people will be disappointed down the road unless they know exactly what the limitations are. In summary, this is a good compliment miter saw.
